Taking a break
Dear readers and friends.
I will be ‘gone’ for a while – I am taking a break from blogging.
Maybe only for a few days, maybe weeks – I don’t know,
but in this busy times working on the first issue of my magazine
it’s necessary to spend the spare time I have with myself outside
the digital world and not feel the ‘pressure’ of blogging.
So don’t you worry, everything is fine – I see it as a little holiday
(I may even ‘send you a postcard’) I will recharge myself
and I hope to be back refreshed and filled with energy soon!
Let me entertain you…
A short and quick blogpost today.
I only have one page to show but I’ll leave you with some fun links
to compensate the short blogpost…
… so come on in!
..
The life of an editor…
The life of an editor-in-chief of a new to come magazine is a busy life.
Answer e-mails.
Write e-mails.
Write articles.
View concepts.
Deliberate.
Co-ordinate content.
Answer more e-mails.
View photos.
Write e-mails.
Drink coffee.
View first layout of the magazine pages.
Deliberate.
Write another e-mail….
… but MAN is it fun and rewarding!
..
Yep, I did all that last week.
I even started making another art journal page
somewhere in between.
It’s not finished yet.
You will understand.
I did write a haiku too.
After all, it’s Haiku my Heart Friday!
..
The Chronicles continued
Are you used to the New Year yet?
Are you getting into the daily routine again?
It took me a week to shake of the weird ‘what-day-is-it’ feeling,
but now I’m back to normal and daily routine settled in – and
as you know, my days (routine or not) all got listed in my Chronicles!
The Chronicles of last year filled up two art journals!
(I thought one journal would become much too thick,
so I bound two ‘half year’ books.)
Here’s how they look now.
I love the colours of paint and ink showing through the spine!
Some art journalers put tape on the middle of their pages before they
start to work on it – to avoid leaking. I like to leave it open, on purpose.
To me, the leaking and coloured spine when the book is full is a nice ‘extra’!!
Seeing the two journals together like this, I thought it would be nice to bind
a thick art journal for my ’2012 Chronicles’ – all 52 weeks in one book!
So I did…
..
Core
I had another kind of blogpost in mind.
I planned on making an art journal page about my ‘word of 2012′.
‘Core’, that’s my word.
Then, in this post, I would show you the page and explain why
I choose this word.
I would tell you that I will try to live my life with respect for
my inner core.
I would have explained that my goal is to seek inside, going to
the very core of myself,
to see if the things I do and the choices I make are true and
honest to the deepest of me.
However…
This week I came across Scrapping the Music.
Seeing the new challenge that was up there, I couldn’t resist.
I wanted to make a layout in my ‘Album Cover Art Journal’.
Although I wasn’t really aware of it – that was my first test.
I listened to my deepest me.
I went to the core and I decided to go for the music.
Go for creating the page that I really wanted to make.
It left me no time to make my ‘core’ page,
but it showed me how good it feels to be aware of that deepest feeling.
My core.
‘Awareness’ was my word for 2011.
See how it all comes together?
I think CORE is the perfect word for me, for 2012.
I know that already ’cause the ‘planned’ blogpost is here too.
In another way than I thought I would write it.
Maybe even better!
I’ll show you the core page after I’ve made it.
Sometime next week.
Today, I show you the other stuff.
..
Not quite yet…
I woke up around half past 6 this morning… and I thought: “OK, that’s nice.
I can turn around and sleep for another hour – then wake up and start the day
at a normal hour like I’m used to. Get back into the daily routine – easily…”
ahem
NOT!
I woke up again at 10 am
so much for ‘getting back to the daily routine!
(I will give it another try tomorrow – should I set the alarm clock maybe?)
So now it’s after diner and I still have to write my Tuesday blogpost, so
I won’t write too much text and just show you some things. I will give the
text-part another try on Friday (I will tell you about my word of the year then)
..
