Kinda blue

I wasn’t planning to publish a haiku today.
I did not write one last week.
In fact, I didn’t do much at all last week.
Summer finally arrived in the Netherlands and when it does,
it comes full force.
Temperatures almost rose to the nineties Fahrenheit and -
unlike other countries – we Dutchies don’t have AC’s in our houses.

I sat in a shaded corner of my garden and read books.
That’s about all I did.

But it’s a ritual, you know, to visit Rebecca on Friday,
even when I do not plan to write a haiku myself.
This morning I saw that her theme for today’s haiku is ‘blue’
and I couldn’t let go.

Back in my corner of the garden,
sipping my morning coffee,
I wrote a haiku.

I guess I cannot do without a haiku on Friday after all.
It’s a habit.

..

..

..

Heartbreaking music
fills up the entire space
kinda blue indeed

..

(No translation in Dutch this time - because of the 'double meaning'
of the last sentence.)

Haiku my Heart Friday is hosted by Rebecca.
Find the list of participants on her blog Recuerda Mi Corazon

..

The room with my computer is upstairs, the sun shines ruthless on the window.
So I won’t write a long blogpost. I will just show you the art journal spread that
I have laying here from the past two weeks – and then turn of the computer.

There is rain predicted for this afternoon.
Cooler temperatures.

I don’t mind that, but I hope it will not drop as far as it did two weeks ago.
Look:

The Chronicles of Marit 2012 – Week 28

(Size: 24,5 x 49 cm – 9.65 x 14.86 inch)

It is sooooo typical for my country to have weather and temperatures
that changes from (much too) low to (much too) high.
I sometimes feel that it just never is ‘normal’.

..

… and here is last week’s spread

The Chronicles of Marit 2012 – Week 29

(Size: 24,5 x 49 cm – 9.65 x 14.86 inch)

..

See you next week dear ones!
Keep it cool!

Dear Marit.. I sing the blues from time to time, everyone does, I’m singing them now for so many reasons. I know you’ll rebound and the blues will fly away, and like anything else, you’ll come out the other side feeling better than ever.
I love that album by Miles Davis. And although our hearts are broken as we listen and lament, the music isn’t breaking our hearts, it’s healing them.

    Much Peace

My husband and I don’t have AC here in the mountains of Arizona either…summer can be tough at times! Finding a shady spot in your garden sounds delightful…the perfect answer!

The pull of haiku is strong !!! ;-)
We have rain here this morning. It is the first reall gentle, soaking rain of the summer, I think. It has been very hot and very dry here, so this rain is well apppreciated. I can feel the Earth humming with delight.
I hope your corner of the garden brings you shady comfort today. Big hugs, Wonderful One ! ENjoy the blue…

    dear marit,

you have written about one of my most favorite jazz recordings. i will have to listen to it this evening when i return from the studio and think of you in the long shadows of your summer garden.
thank you for being here touching my heart across all these miles.

  • Lea Says:

You would fit well here… over a 100 degrees one day, plummeting to the 50′s the next as the fog from the ocean, the blue ocean, roll in… I love thinking that as I write you are soaking up that delicious blue, blue sky and that the music holds your heart sweet friend.

Balance is always a tricky thing
isn’t it even in the weather

it is very hot and humid with storms on the way here too…although I cannot imagine it without air conditioning = oh my!

so I hope you eat some ice cream and enjoy reading in a shady spot

It’s hot here too in New York City, and no shady garden for sitting so I’m inside my apartment building. Miles Davis will definitely keep you cool today!

Love your blues haiku. I hope you have now been able to cool off a bit. It’s been scorching hot here in NE Pennsylvania but I don’t mind it as I love summer..and we do have central air to boot.
And wow, that’s alot of writing you did on your second spread-love the eyes at the top! That B/W photo in your first spread is wonderful!!

This is such a nice haiku on ‘blue’, blues and blue, wonderfully written.

    Namaste

hello marit – we are having some of the same feelings i think… i don’t seem to have a creative bone in my body right now, just happy to sit, and read, and listen.
    it’s all good, i think.
take care my friend, and stay cool!

    perfect haiku,
    with feeling…

    easy to see
    why there would be difficulty
    in translation…

    every nuance
    does not
always make it to a second language.

    and this,
    too,
    is life.

  • rebecca Says:
