Soldier on

Well HI THERE!

I know – you may not have expected a blogpost from me on Sunday
but I have to show something that cannot wait… and I totally forgot
to post it last Friday because of my ‘blurry head’.

btw – Thank you to all for the get-well wishes!
The ‘cold’ I was expecting did not set in… it was a ‘one day thing’ only.
Last weeks were very busy and stressful and the moment things slowed
down, my body must have known that I needed a day rest to recover.
I’m glad I listened to it and – like I said – I cuddled up on the couch with
a blanket and a cup of tea and watched reruns of old series.
This was on TV…

Yep, ‘Little House on the Prairie’
and I even liked watching the episode!
Ha… I really must have been ‘out of my mind’ Friday.

Well… what did I forget to post then?

For a long time now, I visit Artists in Blogland on a regular base.
Marcia Beckett, contributing editor of FEATURING, is the founder and
the site is really worth a visit! At the moment, ‘Artists in Blogland’ brings
an event called ‘Fall Fearless and Fly’ with inspiring challenges
hosted by guest-artists like Ronda Palazzari, Dina Wakley, Joanne Sharpe
and Nathalie Kalbach (to name a few).

This is what the website has to say about the event:

“The autumn equinox marks the arrival of fall, traditionally seen as a season
of changes leading to the dark of winter. Let’s use the time between today and
January 2013 to reflect on shedding and releasing aspects of our lives that
don’t serve us, and embracing positive and uplifting perspectives as we end
one year and begin the next.”

Although I have little time in the next months to play along – and the
top 2000 blog party to host myself in December – I definitely wanted to
play with at least one ‘Fall Fearless’ challenge.. so I picked the very first
challenge to work with!

I made an art journal page for it a week ago, but totally forgot to post it.
Since due day is today I thought I might as well throw in an extra post.

The challenge brought a set of prompts that you could choose from (or use all)

Headline Prompt:  Inventing the Future:  Where do you want to be 5, 10, 15
years from now.  What’s holding you back?  What’s propelling you forward?
What do you need to do or stop doing to create your future?
Color Prompt:  Warm colors (reds, oranges, pinks, yellows)
Quote Prompt:  “The best thing about the future is that it comes one day
at a time.”  Abraham Lincoln

Here’s my take:

Carry on
Take a breath
Climb the stairs
Step by step
Look ahead
Don’t loose sight
Soldier on
The future’s bright

Some of you will recognize the image.
I used the stamp of the running lady in combination with this
photo of stairs before. I love how those work together to make
this metaphorical image.

The lady is stamped on white paper, coloured with Copic markers
and cut out. The photo of the stairs is tranfered into my art journal
with the lady glued on top. When I cut of the shadow, it is like she’s
climbing instead of running.
