Last week was exceptional… the Netherlands and its inhabitants have never had such temperatures in September: 32°C (90°F) It’s a record. Schools proclaimed a ‘tropical timetable’ so that kids could go home early in the afternoon to enjoy the Summer weather. For a middle-aged lady like me, staying in an apartment, the high temperatures weren’t always fun but living in a delta-area sure helps enlighten the heat-waves… I seeked the waterfront!
My parents have a small camper and they picked me up twice last week to spend the day at the water. They lived in Zeeland their whole life and they know the most beautiful spots to spend the day… I took my drawing materials with me. What else can I say:
A Perfect Day
Een perfecte dag nog geen wolkje aan de lucht een meeuw af en toe |
Just a perfect day there’s not a cloud in the sky a seagull, at times |
The weather changed last night, Autumn arrived and I will get into my jeans and pull my cardigan out of the closet. I do like the change of seasons though and I especially love the Fall.
I submit this haiku to Haiku my Heart
Thanks for stopping by my blog, have a perfect day!

My dear friend… the vistas of your Zeeland are forever etched into my being. I imagine you riding your bicycle into those ethereal mists… and I am so glad that you had this time near the water on such a perfect day. The colors of your sketch and haiku warm my heart, as does visiting here with you. How grateful am I that our cyber connection has its roots in sharing another perfect day of friendship that spans over time… XO

dear marit-you have conjured up fond childhood memories growing up on the southern coast of california. in late september the winds would blow from the desert interior and temperatures would climb.
my mother would be waiting for everyone to come home and we would take our dinner to the sea and stay for sunset and the first stars arrival. so glad your parents are whisking you away to beauty and the last kiss of summer. i love autumn too such a graceful reminder of letting go.thank you for your place in our haiku hearts.

My wife is a photographer, and for her a perfect day means LOTS of clouds in the sky. She hates clear skies! 🙂
