Good morning lovelies, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the ones that I haven’t ‘spoken to’ yet in 2017…. yep, that’s you deskers 🙂
After recuperating from the Top 2000 blog party the atelier is in full swing again. I am working on several projects at the same time, switching from one to the other: collage, art journaling, creating tiny mini journals… it’s all there on my desk.
The art journal that you see is my latest Chronicles that I bound in December. Empty page, ready to be filled in 2017 (in case you missed it, see the cover & binding here.) I always start my Chronicles with my ‘One Little Word’ that I choose for the year to come. For 2017, I choose “Laugh.”
I hand-journaled my considerations and thoughts about the word in the background. This is what it says: “I thought quite some time about what I wanted my word for 2017 to be. There were a few words on my mind that all circled around the one feeling I was looking for. Words like ‘Enjoy’, ‘Happy’, ‘Fun’, ‘Light’. You know, I wanted it to be a ‘light’ word, a happy word… and I asked myself if those words weren’t more of a wish than something I can work on… But then again: it is MY word to choose and there are no rules, are there? So I choose a word that may be more of a wish for 2017, a word that covers all the others: LAUGH. That is what I want to do more in 2017: Laugh.”
I’ve been keeping my Chronicles art journal since 2010 and yes, that is SOME STASH of journals! I can barely hold all those books… (and these are only my Chronicles, I have lots and lots of other finished art journals on my bookshelves.) The top journal is the new one for 2017, you can see those pages are still blank…
I wonder what will be jotted down on those pages… I hope this year brings a lot of fun and laughter for all of us!

Hi Marit, what a fabulous aim for the year! If only we could all do more of that, and less judging, or being harsh to others.Thats an amazing stack of Chronicles. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 xxx

Hi Marit. My word – have you been busy over the past 6 years! I wish you well as you long to laugh more this year. Haven’t even thought a particular word for 2017… where did the idea start?
Take care. God bless.

Thanks for your comment Margaret. The tradition of choosing “One Little Word” (or OLW) instead of making resolutions at the beginning of a year first started years ago (I don’t know when exactly) with Ali Edwards, a well known scrapbooker. She inspired a lot of people who follow the ‘One Little Word’ tradition now. The idea is to choose one word to symbolize the intention you have for the new year. Just one little word that you can focus on, mediate on and reflect upon. A word to use as a touchstone You can find more info on Ali’s website here: http://aliedwards.com/

O wat zou ik graag even lekker komen bladeren en rondsnuffelen in die grote stapel. En je even kietelen onder je zwarte kousevoeten zodat die LACH er ook meteen is. Ik lach je in elk geval vast breed toe!

thank you for sharing such a lovely collection of memories… you certainly have been busy over the years 🙂
I also chose a word this year instead of a resolution (which I never keep).. my word is BETTER. It started as a focus for my health.. to get better.. but then I realised that I wanted to do things better, craft better, love better, be better.. and it all came from that 🙂
Have a great week,
