When I woke up and went out on the balcony with my morning coffee, I looked up and saw this…
and a haiku came to me (I submit this haiku to Haiku my Heart – Hi Rebecca, hello there haiku-sweeties, long time no see!)
Mishandelde lucht (opgejaagd, blauwe plekken) huilt aan één stuk door |
Tortured sky above (hunted, beaten, bruised) ceaselessly sheds tears |
See those blue spots between the dark clouds? A prelude to better weather. Five minutes later, the storm was all gone and the sky was blue again. “Skies are black and blue…”‘ a verse from a song that Dutch readers may now have in mind: “Calm After the Storm” (a song by the Common Linnets that reached second place in the final of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.)
I’m glad that the weather changed and that the temperature dropped from a “tropical 30°C -or-more” (86°F) ” to “Summer-normal 22°C” (72°F) After weeks of laziness, crocheting and watching Tour de France I am now loaded and full of energy to dive into my atelier, create and make plans for Autumn. I might start blogging on a more regular base too (that is, when there’s not another heat wave coming…)
Well, this blogpost is a start! And since this blog is mostly about my art journal adventures, here’s also an art journal spread from the “Grandes Chaleurs” art journal.

Beautiful sky photo. We could use some rain here. Your haiku evokes some angst. Your journal page is interesting.

Yes, I hope you get your “better weather” after those “tortured skies.”

Hello my dear Marit! How glad I am to find myself here with your ever changing clouds and colors. It is quite a juxtaposition from your sky photo to your art journal… almost like the clouds passing and the sky shining through the tears. Thank you for sharing your waking moment and some of your art. I love this connection over the years and hope our paths cross again someday soon…
