How it works

Community

All workshops are teached in our own, private and safe community on the website.
You don’t need to have another account (like Yahoo, Flickr, Ning).

The workshops can be found in the shop. For any workshop you take, once you are registered, you receive access to the community of Marit’s Paper World. If the workshop has already begun you will receive access within 24 hours. If the workshop has not yet begun, you will receive access a few days before the workshop starts and an email will be send to notify you when you have access.

Each workshop/group contains:
Latest discussion: This is the group/discussion board. Every time a new lesson is uploaded, it will be announced here. This is also the place where you can chat with your class mates and the teacher, share info, ask questions and hang out.
Group pages: When a lesson comes with an extra (instruction) video, it will be uploaded in this section. You will be notified about this on the boards.
Group Files: This is the place where you will find the lessons (.PDF files)
Group Albums: Each participant can make its own personal album. Group members can share their work this way, give comments to other student’s work and get inspired by all the uploaded art.

Receiving lessons

On each of the scheduled workshop days a new lesson is available. It will be announced on the board (Like: “Lesson #1.”) The “lesson” is a document in .pdf format which you can find in the Group Files. Click on it to open it up with Adobe Reader. You don’t have to download the lesson right on the day it’s posted. It’ll be around during the time of the workshop. You may save the lesson to your hard drive. You may read the lesson on your screen. You may print the lesson. There’s no “getting behind” on these classes — you do them as you have time. If the lesson comes with a video, you will be informed about this on the board and you can watch it under “Group Pages”.

Sharing your work

As you receive the lessons, you’ll hopefully be scrapping along with it. Each participant has it’s own private albums to share work with other participants of the same workshop. This way, you can see what your classmates have done with the lessons and get even more inspired.

On the website, a PUBLIC GALLERY is visible for every site visitor. In this gallery, work from workshop-participants will be showed. Of course you will be asked for permission before I publish your work in this public gallery.

Chatting

The workshop discussion board in this community is the place where announcements about new lessons will appear and where participants may chat with each other by making posts. The teacher will start threads but hopefully you all will start threads as you have questions, observations, or just want to chat. You check the discussion board and post comments on your own schedule. The teacher will be checking the discussion board regularly throughout the duration of the workshop.
