Genius, or just weird?

Curious what this was all about, or did you recognise the mathematical constant π (Pi) in this…?

Don’t be afraid that I will turn this post into a maths class…
I suck at maths you know! I really do, so where my son gets it from?
His dad, I guess. Or maybe there were some genious ancestors whose
gens traveled through the years and nested into Nout’s….
However, Nout is a mathematic genius.
Well, “genius” is too exaggerated to say – but hey – I’m proud. I’m his mom!

(Nout, if you read this, forget what I just said. You’re NOT a genius,
don’t you dare take advantage of me saying this…!)

OK, on to the scrapping stuff now (after all, that’s what WE are genius at, aren’t we!) I made a scrap about Nout’s mathematical tic (Yep, Nout, that’s another word for it… sounds not as interesting as “genius” huh… this is to avoid you getting too conceited.)

Journaling:“Why should someone in Gods name want to know the decimals of pi from the head? Apart from the fact that it is in any case impossible –
the decimal representation never ends or repeats – it is good-for-nothing.
Isn’t knowing the fact that the value of pi is the ratio of any circle’s circumference to its diameter in Euclidean space enough?

But NO, Nout challenged himself and my little mathematics wonder – even in his circle of friends he’s notorious for his mathematical skills – started to cram the numbers into his head.
For months, he had a little paper in his pocket with the numbers on it and he used every free minute to drum yet another line of numbers into that little head of his. Just like that. During lunch break at school. During dinner… en he managed! Boy did he manage!
He came quit a long way. A very, almost impossible long way…
And so here I am, the mother of a son who can recite pi from the head.
Up to 480 decimals!”

Detail:
I used Tim Holtz alpha mask and sprayed ink over it. However, the numbers appeared too pale on this lay out, so I coloured them using aquarelle-pencils.

I made this LO with two challenges in the back of my mind, both over at SIStv.
One was about “getting all messy” (well, I did – using my spray ink) and the other one was to write journaling from the heart (not a quote or song lyrics or such)

And on to the next lay out (I was quit productive last weekend!)
Another page from my Leonard Cohen Art Journal!

This page is inspired by the song “The Gypsy’s Wife

Detail:
The picture of a “Gypsy Wife”
came from an old magazine (as is the page underneath, about Roman Gypsies)

And of course…
machine stitching!

Detail:

A piece of old lace
Helen sent me last week.
It looks marvellous
on this lay out!

Detail:
More sewing,
and a little bit of stamping.

And now that I’m in that creative flow, I think I will stretch the weekend one day further… and go play with my paint again today!!! The more I create, the more ideas I get for yet another lay out…

I leave you with an update (my brother sent this to all her friends) about my niece and see you all soon! Je t’embrasse!

“Lisa is doing much better!! On Monday (April 27th) they let her out of the I.C. Till Thursday in a step down unit, a kind off intermediate room between I.C. and a normal room. On Thursday finally in a normal room, on Friday they took all her infuses away. Even her morphine!! Now she’s bitching the nurses because she wanna have a bed on a window… She can walk a bit, laugh and speak as never before, the old Lisa is almost back!! The only big concern at the moment is her left hand, she still can’t move that, and got almost no feeling in it. And she still got lots off pain in her neck and back…”

Thanks for all the great comments about what a genius I am, but in fact, that ingenious it isn’t. You only have to have a bit of persistence, that’s all. And you must WANT to do it, otherwise it doesn’t work 😉
I don’t wanna talk big about myself or something, but I just wanted to let you know that, with 480 digits, I’m 72th on the World Ranking List and 32nd ond the Europe List.
    😛 Nout
