Yesterday, I lost myself in reading old blogposts… and feeling sorry for the fact that the artsy blog community isn’t what it was anymore. It’s not so long ago that I wrote long blog posts and many people came to visit this little online space of mine to read my words and leave their comments… and I visited a lot of blogs also. I loved reading stories and seeing pictures of the places people live, the art they created and their thoughts and insecurities and victories. There was a lot of sharing, supporting, talking and love going back and forth and a lot of the people I met online became friends. We all felt connected because we have the same passion: art. However, a couple of years ago, the focus shifted to Facebook and yes, I am on Facebook too. I had to. I don’t want to miss what’s going on in the art-world and I want to stay in touch with my artsy friends but still I miss the old blogging days…
OK. It must be my midlife age kicking in that makes me feel a bit melancholic. Enough rambling about the old days… on to the new days…
It’s been quite some time ago – almost a month – since I showed you pages from my Chronicles art journal. I have four spreads to show you, all very different from each other. I do like to experiment and change colors and techniques every week, depending on my mood… and that is exactly the fun of art journaling!
The Chronicles of Marit 2016 – Week 19
The Chronicles of Marit 2016 – Week 20
The Chronicles of Marit 2016 – Week 21
The Chronicles of Marit 2016 – Week 22
I’m curious to know which of these spreads you prefer or speaks most to you. Let me know in a comment, I LOVE comments!

Tsja, the good old blogging days!

I’m not on Facebook so this is my connection. I appreciate you…b

Blogging for me is still more satisfying than FB where everything seems to in sound bites and disappears so quickly
That said I am a visual person and tend to not read long posts especially when I am not on my big computer. Photos tell so many stories. I always feel self conscious when my blog posts go over 300 words (WP gives the count when I prepare my drafts).
Different strokes for different folks as the saying goes.
I have noticed a drop in visitors to my blog.
I always enjoy seeing what you create dear Marit ♥

I agree with yo about blogging going by the wayside a bit… I’m still holding out on FB… I find it cumbersome. TFS!

Hi Marit! I too love the blogging days of yesteryear over today. (I will however interject that because I have no way to get email notifications of your blog, then I have to rely on chancing to see you have posted on Facebook – and I end up missing a lot, unfortunately. Readers do not work for me.)
I hope I do not tick off anyone, but there is also a big reason FOR ME as to why yesteryear was better — today everything is design team this & product that. I get so damn tired and irritated at being sold to 24/7/365. Being hit up, manipulated, played — when it should be all about sharing and what a REAL LIFE artist or art hobbyist is creating using whatever the hell scraps and leftovers are laying around. Which is why I have pretty much tried to unlike, unfollow any of that with people and with groups. So, when you reminisce about the good old days, I remember what made them sweet: less commercialism being one of them. Have a good one, cheers. xoxo
