In reply to <a href="https://www.maritspaperworld.com/blog/a-stormy-art-journal-spread/comment-page-1/#comment-8595">jenny</a>.

Jenny, the poem is from the Dutch poet Adriaan Roland Holst http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriaan_Roland_Holst I could not find a translation of this poem and I am not much of a translator (translating poems is extremely difficult) but I did the best I can... here's both the poem in Dutch and English

Zwerversliefde

want hoeveel harten moesten daarom breken

en wijl wij same’ in ’t oude waaien zwijgen
binnen een laatste droom gemeenzaam zijn.

Veel liefde ging verloren in de wind,
en wat de wind wil zullen wij nooit weten;
en daarom – voor wij elkander weer vergeten –
laten wij zacht zijn voor elkander, kind.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hobo-love
Let us be gentle for one another, child
because, o the immoderate desertions
that blow under the stars in the old wind
over our tired of wandering limbs
o, let us be gentle, and not
speak haughtily words of love
for how many hearts therefor had to break
under the wind of helpless sorrow
We are but leaves in the wind
rustling along the hem of old wounds
and everything is uncertain, and how would we know
what only the wind knows, child
and let us, because we are lonely,
tend our heads to one another
and while we silence in the old whiffle
let us be colloquial inside one last dream
A lot of love was lost in the wind,
and we will never know what the wind wants
and therefor - before we forget each other again -
let us be gentle for one another, child.
