Time seems to fly these days and all of a sudden it’s Friday again.
I did not create anything last week.
Well, that’s not true. I wrote articles and that’s creating too of course,
but I mean I did not make any art that I can show you.
To make this an interesting post, I came up with a solution
so you will find some art pieces on my blog today anyway.
Of course there’s a photo and a haiku too.
After all, it’s ‘Haiku my heart Friday’.
Enjoy!

I started blogging in November 2008 and my creative work got a boost.
Showing what I made to ‘the world’, getting feedback and compliments and
the contact I made with other artists and their work was really uplifting and
inspiring. I though it would be fun to see what I made over the years.
I lifted work from my old blog from every (blog)year up till now…
What did I make back then? Can I see a change in style? (yes) and did I make
any artistic progress? (definitely!)
See for yourself.

March 2009
Traditional ‘scrapbooking’… but you can already see
my search for ‘ways to change and get loose.’
I used paint behind the journal spot…
March 2010
I’d discovered ‘art journaling’.
From this year on, I’d call my work ‘art journaling’
instead of ‘scrapbooking’ (although the boundaries
between those two are blurry)
This page was for ‘A Year in the Life of an Art Journal’
March 2011
Photos, stamps, puffy paint, more journaling…
I think in 2011 I really got loose and tried every
technique I came across. Some techniques stayed
(photo transfer!) and some techniques were not
‘my cup of tea…
December 2011
Here are some pages I made at the end of last year… so,
did I found my own ‘style’ over the years? I don’t know…
Some say they recognize my art as ‘Marit’ when they see it,
but I still find it hard to point out what ‘my style’ is.
Can you tell me?
I would like to hear: what makes it ‘a real Marit’ ??
I’m very curious, so leave me a comment.
Have a nice weekend.
Go find your own style (whatever that is) and don’t worry if
you can’t find it – in any case; make sure you have fun on your quest.

I will know a real authentic Marit piece when I am holding it in my hands. I’m sure you have a style. For me, not being an artist, I have a hard time with descriptions, but I can tell you with all honesty that I like what I see on your pages when I stop in on Fridays. And your words feel like you are talking to me, having a conversation. I love that!
I guess if you put one piece of artwork from a half dozen blogger artists that I visit, I could match the piece with the blogger’s name. Sounds like a contest, I’ll work on that idea.
I’m working on a piece right now. I’ll photograph it when I am finished and post it. The deadline is near as I must give this piece away on March 7th, so it is just about finished. I never thought to compare what I have done before to what I did today, or even what I might do in the future. Simpler that way for my little mind. You do so much, create so much. I am proud to know the artist Marit.
By the way, that is a great photo of the bikes, and the haiku makes such sense of the photo! Good job!
Peace

Fijn weekend!

I’m not sure what it is that makes your work yours, but there is definitely a “Marit” quality to it. It is recognizable.

I love that shot of the bikes, and the one with the photo cut into tiny pieces!

Fijn weekend!

I will never forget seeing those bicycles at the Amsterdam train station, or the energy of hundreds of bicycles flying by… it amazing to me that you could find your ride in there! As to your style… I think that as an artist, it is always changing, morphing, and reflecting where we are in the moment of creation. I love seeing the evolution of your journal… and in another ten years? XO

I love the bicycle photo and haiku. I always see your art as collage-based. I don’t know if I could pick you out in a contest, but I would choose the “silence” piece above to enter said contest.

Fun photo… and your haiku fits it well. 🙂

My own creative endeavors follow your pattern, but it is interesting to see how your work evolved–and will undoubtedly continue to change. I haven’t seen enough of your work to pick an actual style, but I sure like what I see.

I love seeing how you have grown as an artist. Great work! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, how I wish Americans rode bikes in huge numbers like your photo shows! Very clever haiku! Also, I don’t really work on my art in the winter at all…my studio isn’t heated, and I like to take a break anyway. With the days growing longer and sometimes warmer, I’m now getting really excited to begin again!

LOVE the haiku and picture! Reminds me of the time I went to the drive in movie with some guy in high school. I went to the snack bar and when I came out I realized I had no earthly idea what kind of car he was in!! This is Libby BTW you came by my site to see the bird of paradise flower. 🙂

I would say that it is an evolution of the spirit that occurred and it is reflected in the change and vivid, beautiful eclecticism of your final piece. I notice that the figures are more respresentational in the last piece rather than photos or images of actual people. I like that. Very lovely as are you!
