Thank you, thank you, a big THANKS to all who responded to my e-mail
last month, and sent me a birthday card for my friend Lena!!!

On Sunday, my beloved and I drove to Zeeland to visit her on
her 50th birthday. I carried with me my own presents, ánd a bag
with all your envelopes!!!

I’d printed the e-mail that I sent to you, and let her read it first –
so she would now what it was that I gave her.
Then I handed over the bag stuffed with your mail!
MAN – you should’ve been there – the look on her face was priceless!!!!

Here’s a photo

See the big stack of envelopes on her lap?
And there’s even more in the bag…. WOWZAH

To see more pics of all the cards and presents,
go to Lena’s blog Six lilies studio

On to some art journal pages I made…

..

These are the last two pages in my ‘list’ journal.
I finished all the prompts now, and my book is full.
I’m real happy with this colourful and versatile little art journal!
(If you want to see all the pages in a row, the complete book is in my gallery.
You find it under ‘finished Art Journals’ – see buttons at the top of this blog.)

List #29 – Favourite food

List #30 – Today’s To-Do list

I stamped the desperate lady twice, so that it looks like she’s shaking.
I love the effect!!! This ‘to do’ list is from a week ago (April 12th) and I
really had a busy day back then! I’m glad things calmed down now!

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means…
Yep, last week’s art journal page.
Here it is (click on the picture to enlarge for a better view)

The Chronicles of Marit 2011 – Week 15

Anne g-i send me a bunch of awesome, antique postcards (thanks Anne!!!)
and this one was soooo appropriate to go with the date that I finished
writing the articles for ‘Creatief met Foto’s #47’.
(This issue will hit the stores in May)

How do I fill up my days now that I made the deadline with the writing?

For starters: it’s 25 degrees Celcius (77 Fahrenheit) so I spend a lot
of time in the backyard – sitting in the sun and spraying ink on art
journal pages. This warm weather is awesome for letting the pages
(ánd the laundry) dry in the sun! . (NOTE TO SELF: remember to check
the wind before using spray ink while the laundry hangs outside 😉 )

Work on more Creative Summer Camp prompts.
(registration opens this week, I’ll keep you informed)

Work on the website I design/create for a customer.

and last but not least: I really, REALLY have to do some housekeeping!

As you see, I won’t get bored!
I hope you have a lovely, creative and sunny week my friends!

Hello, hello there my friends!

This is Freewheelin’ Friday ‘I lost count of the number”
and there’s certainly not much freewheelin’ for me today!
I worked all day, and am facing another busy weekend.
Aaaaarghhh… I do miss my journals, my paint and I especially
miss FREE TIME. I miss the days on which I got up early, knowing
that I had all the time of the world to spend with my art journals.
I must abide by a minute here and there to add something to my
art journal pages – but that’s the philosophy behind ‘art journal every day’
isn’t it? That is exactly what I’m doing these days – work hard during the day,
and play with my art journal pages for a few minutes in between diner and
fave tv-shows/bed.

In those ‘lost minutes’ I did manage to get something done though,
so I’m glad to announce that I can show you 2 (yes, TWO) list pages today.

List #25 – Thing’s I’d rather be doing right now

I jotted this list down one evening at the beginning of the week, just after
I saw a music documentary on tv. (Now that I think of it – I can’t even
remember what it was about, or which day it was! I’m getting old… eeeckkkk…
or maybe stress takes its toll?)

Anyway, that’s where the ‘take a plane’ part comes from.
As you know, I don’t like to travel but that night, I suddenly felt an itch and
thought that it would be so much fun to fly to the US with my beloved, sit in
a bar (is it allowed to smoke in bars in the US? That’s something I need to
know!) and hear a band play! It may never come this far, but I find consolation
in the fact that we possess tickets to the Eels concert in June! There will be
no traveling involved – it’s nearby and we can get there by bike!
I will be there with my beloved and son, and I’m soooo looking forward to it!
It has been ages since I went to a concert! (over 10 years now – or more?!

List #28 – Places I’ve been

The prompt for list #28 said ‘Vacations to take’ but – as I stated above –
I don’t like going on vacation and I certainly don’t plan vacations or
– god forbid – make lists about it! So I turned the prompt around,
and listed the places I have been on vacation ‘back in the days’.
It’s hard to read, because I didn’t want to spoil the fabulous photo
(from a street in Calcutta. The photo comes from an old National
Geographic magazine). I used transparent stickers for the title, they
totally blend into the background, and I wrote the places on tracing
paper – which is also a bit transparent.
Here’s where I’ve been on vacation:

Belgium (numerous times! As a child as well as an adult.
It’s a neighbour country of the Netherlands, and from
where I live it’s only half an hour drive to get to the border.
I remember several vacations spend in ‘de Ardennen’ – in
the south-east of Belgium)

Germany (sometime in the eighties. I didn’t go there for long
vacations, but I remember some day-trips with my former
partner. Germany is another neighbour-country)

Luxembourg (in the seventies when I was a child.
Luxembourg is a very small country – enclosed by Germany,
Belgium & France. I’ve been there in my teens with my parents.
Sweet memories!)

France (many times in all stages of my life!
Which Dutchie hasn’t spend at least one vacation in France?)

England (if you’re not a European, you will think that ‘England,
Wales and Scotland are the same’ but it isn’t!!! The combination
is called ‘Great Brittain’ but the regions are quite different from
each other!!! I went on holiday to England – the east coast and
London – with baby Nout and his father, so it must have been in 1992)

Wales (I fell in love with this region the very first time I came there!
I think the first time was in 1993. I persuaded my partner to go there
again the next year – and I visited the house where Dylan Thomas lived,
the places he wrote about and even his grave! I still have the necklace
I bought in the town he lived. It has a pendant with an old, Celtic rune.
That pendant holds a long story… maybe I’ll tell you sometime.)

Scotland (the summer of 2006 – Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-lie –
Remember Lena???!!! Yes, ofcourse you do!
Lena and I went to Edingburgh for a ‘Bay City Memorial Vacation’.
We are friends since childhood and our love for the BCR was a BIG thing
we had in common in our teens. I hardly believe you will be 50 years old
soon, Lena 😉 Oh boy, we were Bay City Roller FANS in capitals!
This vacation was one of the best!!! I still can’t help but smile, when I
think back on it! )

Curacao (1983. My former husband – yes, I was married once – worked
in the Navy and was stationed on Curacao for 9 months. I visited him
and we had a month vacation together.)

Spain (1985 – I went to Barcelona on a school-trip when I was in
artschool. I went back to Spain a year later on a road trip.)

India (1989 and 1991. I traveled South India the first time and went to
North India the second time together with my partner as backpackers.
Both vacations were 6 weeks. )

And here ends my trip down memory lane.
It’s time for me to cook diner!
Enjoy your weekend sweet friends, see you next week!

Did you Dutchies enjoyed the warm weather last weekend?
I know I did! I finished my work early, and had some time left to art journal
in the garden. It’s the first time that I brought my markers and copics outside
to work in the open air. I though I would not like it to work while sitting in a
chair without a big table – only a small one to put my markers and tea on.
But I enjoyed it! Painting and spraying will be more difficult this way, but
doodling and writing aren’t a problem to do this way. I’ll remember that, and
I hope we have a nice Summer!

I have three pages for you today!
Two of them are lists (still not done with those 😀 )
Enjoy!

..

List #23 – Guilty pleasures

I know the phrase, and what is meant by it. But for you who don’t:

“A guilty pleasure is something one enjoys and considers pleasurable
despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. The “guilt” involved is sometimes
simply fear of others discovering one’s lowbrow or otherwise
embarrassing tastes. Fashion, music, and junk food can be examples
of guilty pleasures.”

Ofcourse I have those pleasures. But I don’t feel embarrassed by it.
I simply have no problem with you knowing that I love chips, I like
to watch make-over shows, there are some terrible songs which got
me teary-eyed etc. etc The list, ofcourse, is a lot longer but here’s the thing:
I don’t feel ‘guilty‘ about any of those things.. I don’t even think it’s
embarrassing to say you like certain things. I’m not trying to keep up
an ‘image’ or something. I am who I am and if others find it ‘not done’ that
I like certain things, that’s their problem.
(I see now, that this is something that I should have put on list #27
but in a way, it is on that list.)

Are there absolutely no ‘pleasures’ that I do find embarrassing then?

Well yes. We all have them I guess…
And that’s why I came up with this ‘list’.

(After I write a blogpost, I always run the spelling check before I publish it.
I just did that, and the spellingschecker says ’embarrassing’ should be written
with two s-ses – can’t change that on my journal page, but I’ll remember.
OK, another lesson learned.)

List #27 – Lessons learned

After I made this list, I thought some more about point three.
It’s not completely right that I put “You can’t be liked by everyone”
on this list as ‘a lesson learned’. I still struggle with that one from time to time!

It’s a trap that most people, especially women, walk into… we just want
EVERYONE to like us! It always hits me hard when someone seems to dislike
me. Although it gets better now that I am older, I’m still a bit of a pleaser…
This lesson isn’t learned yet. I still go back and forth from “being authentic
and never mind the people who don’t like me when I act the way I am” to
“oh my, let’s not get over enthusiastic or act as a ‘know-it-all’, because chances
are that people will start to find me arrogant and pretentious and they will
dislike me for it”. Lesson STILL NOT LEARNED. (Working on it though!)

The Chronicles of Marit – Week #13

There are no real ‘secrets’ on this page, but I name some names and I don’t
want the persons to feel uncomfortable when everyone can read it on my blog,
so I blurred the journaling.

And that’s it for today folks!
Now that the days get longer, I have an extra few hours daylight
in the evenings. That means I might get another journal page done
this week, using the hours after diner!
We’ll see, but with or without new pages – I see you on Friday!

Last week was my last ‘lazy week’ which I spend (as you know) reading
and creating. Again, my days will be filled with writing articles for
Creatief met Foto’s. The next issue of the magazine will be in the stores
in the first week of May, and I have to fill it before that… that means
I have to write approximately 18 articles in the next three weeks – it is
clear that art journaling will be put on a back burner during that time.

But it certainly won’t come to a complete art journal stop…
you know me 😉 I can’t do without art journaling!

Although the quantity of pages will be less in the next weeks,
I have a lot to show you today! All made last week and weekend.
Ready?
Here we go…

..

30 Days of Lists is nearing it’s end… I skipped two prompts,
and have 6 more to go (tomorrow’s prompt included)

Here are some lists I made last week

List 20 – Celebrity Crushes

Thank goodness the List-blog said “Think of ‘crush’ as liberally
as you like” ’cause the age of having ‘crushes’ is long gone 😀

Looking at my wrinkles and eyelids I find it hard to believe, but Yep –
I was a teenager once. And ooohhh, did I had crushes!
You want to know those names too I guess *teehee*
Well, I’m in a good mood – lucky you!

My teenage crushes

Rutger Hauer

Tony Baretta (the actor Robert Blake in this role)

The Bay City Rollers (ALL of them!)

John Travolta

those are the ones that come to mind right away.

Thinking of the ones NOW, quite a few names came to mind for one reason
or another… some I admire, some I find inspiring and some (guys) are
just too gorgeous to not name.

It turned out that I didn’t have enough room to glue all the pics on one page.
I had to tape an extra piece to it to show them all!

Benoite Groult (1920) – a French author who I admire.
Her books gave me a lot of insight, confidence and strength!

Aragorn – Viggo Mortensen in “Lord of the Rings” – but to be honest:
I was in love with (the character) Aragorn the first time I read the book,
long before the movie was made or Viggo was known.
He does meet the ideal image though!

Virginia Woolf (1882 – 1941) – English author, essayist, publisher,
and writer of short stories, regarded as one of the foremost modernist
literary figures of the twentieth century.
Inspirational woman with a wonderful writing style!

Rutger Hauer (1944) – Yes, he’s on my list. Still.
Rutger gets even better and more good looking now that he grows older!

Marilyn French (1929 – 2009) – American feminist and author.
The first book I read from her was ‘the Women’s room’ – I was 21 and
I’ll never forget how good it felt to read a story that handled the same
themes, ideas and feelings that I was struggling with.
Instant recognition!

Jacques Brel (1929-1978) – French singer/songwriter (Chansonier) –
His songs are like poetry, his voice gives me the shivers.
I’m a fan since my parents played one of his albums. I was five or six (??)

Helen Mirren (1945) – English actor – she played in the theater,
made tv series and movies. (she won a lot of awards) I admire her
for the way she acts ánd her ideas.

Leonard Cohen (1934) – Do I have to say more?
My fave poet-singer-idol!

Anais Nin (1903 – 1977) – was a French-Cuban author, famous for her
published journals, which span more than 60 years, beginning when she
was 11 years old and ending shortly before her death.
I read a great deal of her journals and admire her writing and her spirit!

(THE YOUNG!) Mickey Rourke (1952) – Oh man, was he good
looking back then! I did have a crush on him, but have you seen him
nowadays? Eeeeckkk!

Pfew, quite a list isn’t it?
On to some ‘easier’ lists now

List 22 – Today I saw

List 24 – I make lists for…

I’m not a list maker, and at first I thought I couldn’t make a page listing
my lists… but when I thought about it, I came up with a few.
Turns out I do make lists after all!

List 26 – Books I want to read

This prompt came the day after I wrote the former blogpost.
What a coincidence, and did I had fun making this list!

Some of the titles are already in my possession waiting to be read.
I read a review about the biography Keith Richard wrote and I got
real curious so that’s on my list too.
After reading my former blogpost, some of you gave me tips about
books to read and I included some titles to my list. Looks like I will
spend a lot of Summer evenings in the garden with a book this year!

To end this blogpost… (it is long enough as it is!)

The Chronicles of Marit 2011 – week 12

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I don’t thank you often enough, but I want you all to know
that I highly appreciate all your visits and comments!!!
Have a wonderful week sweeties!!

This week, I found something back that I’d thought was gone: to be lost
in a story. The last days, I found myself in another time and another country,
far away from here. Now and then I woke up as if from a trance, because there
was coffee to be poured, or food that had to be cooked – but I was only half
in this world. In my mind, I galloped with daring knights or I sailed on a boat
on a lake where – behind the mists – Avalon waited for me.

I was Druid, Goddess, Knight and Minstrel.
Sorry dear ones, I wasn’t in this world.
I sat in the Spring sun and I read.
I got a tan without noticing it, and I found a long-lost treasure:
to travel to other times and places and be gone from this world.

I am back to the one I once was – a reader.
Reading was a big part of me that I had lost and now it’s back
and I feel complete again!

Here’s the evildoer:

Don’t be afraid – I have not forgotten you.
I left my book downstairs on the table.
It’s Friday, and as a faithful and brave knight – I won’t forsake you.
Here are some list-pages!

List 17 – Words that are hard to spell

I’m very keen on spelling mistakes and I’m pretty good at writing correctly
– in the Dutch language that is. Therefor, writing in English keeps me humble
’cause I know I make a lot of grammatical ánd spelling mistakes.

There are lots of words that I have trouble with writing and my list would be
endless, but this one word seems to really haunt me! Misc E ll A neous.
I just keep on forgetting where the E and the A are supposed to be…
although I looked it up a hundred times; it just won’t stick to my mind…

List #18 – Road trip must-haves

Most of you know: I don’t like ‘going on vacation’.
I don’t take road trips for fun, but I did a lot of traveling years ago.
“That was long ago and far away” – and a complete different story,
but anyway: I made my list with those trips in mind.
I always had at least the above things with me, and I still find these
the most important things to take with me when I unexpectedly should
go on a road-trip…

List #19 – Recipes I want to try

I gave this a little twist 😉
It’s clear that cooking is not my hobby!

Today is the last day that temperatures will be high enough
to sit outside in the back yard.
Today is the day that I will finish my book.

My paint and brushes are sadly weeping when I pass them by…
but I’m planning a party with them this weekend.
They will have to wait one more day.
I can’t resist Morgaine’s call that comes to me through the mists of Avalon.
I want to know – No, I HAVE to know what happens with Arthur and Lancelot.
I’m under a spell. Another afternoon of reading, and the spell will be broken
with a big sigh.

see you next week dear ones!

Finally… after a cold, freezing Winter with a lot of snow it is here: Spring!!!

The sun is shining, I see crocuses, hyacinths and daffodils everywhere around
and my laundry is hanging outside in the breeze. That means clean and fresh
smelling sheets on my bed tonight – yum!

I’m still working on ‘list pages’ and the Monday-prompt was very fitting:

List #21 – Things to do this Spring

(And here’s your answer to the question – “what book is waiting for you?” – Thinkie!)

I have a lot more for you today so grab a cup of coffee, (ice)tea or – who knows
– a bowl of ice cream (see I get sunshine on my mind!), relax and enjoy!

First of all – my last week’s journal page

Week 11

In the plastic pocket is the postcard Rosie send me together with the wristies
(see former post)

When you flip the pocket, the journaling underneath becomes visible.
On this side of the pocket, I put a ‘card’ where I journaled about the
earthquake, tsunami and nuclear problems in Japan.
My ‘Chronicles’ mostly has personal journaling, but there are times
that the world-news is so big that I just HAVE to include it in my book.

Lists – lists – lists – lists…
and more lists!!!

Here are just a few:

List #13 – DIY* I want to try

(For the Dutchies: I did not know what this meant either, so I checked.
It means “Do It Yourself”.)

edit: I only now see, I made a mistake… couldn’t read my own handwriting
anymore I guess… it should say DIY and I wrote DYS…. ah well, I’m human. )

I had a bit of a problem to come up with a list for this page.
I learned a lot of creative techniques when I was in Art School.
I work a lot with my art journals lately – and I use a lot of techniques
from back then. I could not think of anything else that I’m willing to
‘learn’ or try right now… Instead, I put some things on the list that
I once learned (mono-print, batik) and would love to try again someday.
I also made ‘linoleum carvings/prints in the Eighties – carving my own
stamps would be just like that I guess. I’d love to start with it but my-oh-my
I will need the tools to do that and I already have so much stuff…

Painting words on the wall is an old dream of mine.
I just never came to it.
I might – one day!

List #15 – Shopping List

This one’s from last week.
And yes – I’ve been to the art store.
And yes, I bought more then was on my list… what’s new… 😉

And here’s a ‘big’ page (9.8 x 13.8 inch – 25 x 35 cm) in my art journal.

This page has been on Songs in my heART for three days now, but nobody
saw it (at least nobody commented on it)
It’s a pity that Penny’s ‘Songs in my heART’ blog don’t get much traffic…
Her intention of a blog where everyone can send work with a ‘musical theme’
is so neat! I love the idea of a ‘community’ of people with interest in music and
art, who comment on each other’s projects… but there are more people needed
to get Penny started. From now on, she will be posting work on Tuesdays
and Fridays, and new work is needed!!! Layouts, cards, ATC’s, art journal
pages – as long as it has (some kind of) music as an inspirations, it is welcome!
Hop over there, check it out and send your work to Penny!

Here’s my latest page

Foxy Lady – Jimi Hendrix

My computer just started to make strange noises!
It does that since Thursday, and although I know it won’t blow up
(the ventilator is old and needs to be replaced, which will happen
tomorrow) it sure sounds scary… I turn on the computer in the
morning to check the mail and some community sites, and then
turn it off again. I do this several times every day – visiting blogs
until the noises start… and turn it off again…

I’m sorry that I’m not around much.
I will make it all up to you later this week!

As promised… here I am!!!

And yes, I got a lot done yesterday.
Can’t show you all (some things are for a customer, and some pages
aren’t finished yet) but I do have some list-pages and a big collage to show.

First I want to show you the lovely gift Rosie send me!

I saw these fingerless gloves (Rosie calls them ‘wristies’) on her blog
early March, and I said to her that I should make myself a pair to wear at
the computer – ’cause really – I’m such a ‘koukleum’ (which is Dutch and it
can be translated as ‘chilly person’ – it has the words ‘cold’ and ‘shiver’ in one.)

Awesome Rosie didn’t tell me a thing, but made a pair for me and put it in
a big envelope together with a beautiful handmade card!
Can you imagine how happily surprised I was when the package arrived?
She wrote “I felt so sad for you when you said how you’re always cold and
I still had some “waistcoat” left, so I made them up!” How sweet is that?
They now lay next to the computer so I can look at them and use them
every time I get cold! Thank you so much Rosie – I’m over the moon happy!

I made a few ‘list pages’ last week.
Some took a lot of work, and some were done in no time.
I like how my ’28 lists’ book is growing with whimsical pages of all sorts…

List #12 – Weekly rituals

(I cut the image from a magazine once, because I found it hilarious…
this was the perfect page for it!)

..

List #14 – Thinks I love about ———————–

(You had to fill it in yourself, and I thought it would be nice
to add a zentangling page to my list album!)

List #16 – Places to see in your hometown

(Middelburg is not the city I live in, but since my heart is still in Zeeland
I found it more fun to take that town for this prompt.)

I have more list-pages, but I save a few for next week.
I don’t want to overfeed you with lists…

The next collage is made in my ‘big’ Art Journal (9,8 x 13,8 inch)
I started this page on Thursday, and finished it yesterday (that’s why my
‘Friday post’ was delayed, I wanted to work on this before the light would fade –
we’re still in ‘Wintertime’ overhere you see…)

Today, I did some laundry and cut my beloved’s hair (yep, I do that!)
The sun is shining brightly and it feels like Spring. The tree in the front yard
turned green overnight! Yesterday you could only see little leave-buds,
but they all woke up this morning and and raised their heads from under the
blankets. When I opened the curtains, they waved cheerfully at me.
It was a very nice ‘welcome’ to start the weekend!

I have hope that in a few weeks, I will be able to sit in the evening sun after
diner, having coffee and read the book that’s been waiting patiently to be read…
I might shiver a bit in the evening sun, but I have a blanket ánd the ‘wristies’….
I’m looking forward to it already!

I hope you too think about all the small but wonderful things you have in your
lives right now, unlike other people that have to deal with disasters (Japan)
and war (Libia). Look up at the trees, be grateful and enjoy your weekend!

It’s a bit odd to write a post on Wednesday- but after this one,
I will be back in the routine of posting on Tuesdays and Fridays… promise!

And what do I have for you today?

..

First, the new prompt for A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

THE PROMPT: Confidence Shot
THE SONG: Strut by Adam Lambert
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: eye shadow

I have some photos of myself as ‘super woman’. My son did this photoshoot
two years ago for a prompt (I gained two kilos in the meantime!)
Every time I see those pics, I get the feeling that I am ready to conquer
the world! Now thát’s a confidence shot, isn’t it?!
I didn’t like the song ‘Strut’ much (sorry!) but the first line was very useful
to go with this ‘superwoman pic’.

The letters are stamped and coloured with copic markers.
A doodled border makes it complete.

And ofcourse, I’m still working on the 30 days of lists

I can’t keep up the ‘one list/page a day’ tempo and I’m not working
in the correct order either… but I’ll get them all done in the end.
Here are two more lists.

List #5 – Weekend goals

List #7 – Blog goals

(I now see I made a spelling mistake, I meant preferable instead of prefarable…
&*()#W%!! – but when I looked up prefarable in the dictionairy to see if this
word exist, it turned out that it means something sweet, so it can be read
that way too… a blessing; ’cause I can’t stand mistakes!)

The Chronicles of Marit – week 10

Can you believe we are in week 10 already?
I couldn’t – ’cause I glued a 9 there at first.
I only discovered this mistake yesterday.
I had to make the circle where the 9 was black to repair it.

It’s almost noon, and I have a lot of plans for this afternoon.
I better get started! Not much text in this blogpost today,
but you have the images to compensate that 😉

See you on Friday!!!

…where it gets good!

Surprised to hear music playing?
Yep, my weblog is usually a ‘quiet place’ – but not today!

My son discovered the band ‘Eels’ last year.
He bought their cd’s, saw a documentary and went to a concert.
Ofcourse he played their music for us too, and I must say: he has
a good taste in music! I love the songs, the lyrics are awesome and
since I like to use lyrics in my art I made a page with it. I finished this
over a week ago (it was on the songs in my heART blog already) but
I show it to you while you hear that song playing. (At least I hope
you hear it – my beloved helped me include music into my blogpost…)

The background is one of the photos my mom send me – skies and clouds.
The eye is a gel medium transfer. The arm/hand is a photo of my own hand.
I made the pile of ‘earth’ with distress embossing powder. Acrylic paint in
the bottom part of the page, and journaling with a white sharpie.

“The sky in your eyes
The earth in your touch
The spirits come together
It’s almost too much
And this is where it gets good…”

And I have some ‘lists’ for you….
I have a blast working on these pages – the seize of the journal is fun to
work on (5.1 x 8.3) and I finished a couple of pages in the past two days
(and some more are halfway)

This is one I made last Friday

List #4 – Today’s Playlist

I think the next one is my least favourite page until now…
Oh well, not every page has to be perfect! Here it is

List #8 – What’s in my bag

On the other hand – the next page became one of my favourites… so cute!

List #9 – Favourite websites/blogs

And – as promised – my take on the ‘Fave things’ prompt:
Favourite Features.

This page, in particular the photo, has a comical story…

When I saw the prompt ‘favourite features’ I didn’t have to think long about it.
I have beautiful legs. Not long, but beautiful.

(I have to thank my mom! She is seventy now, but she still has legs like this!
Seriously, she looks like a young girl – and since my body shape looks like her,
I find that very encouraging. But never mind – where was I…)

Oh yes, my legs.
I once saw a photo of a pin up girl, laying on her back, wearing high heels
and having her feet put upon the wall… get the picture?
I wanted a photo of my legs that way…

I thought about asking my son to take the photo, but I felt a little bit
embarrassed to ask him (and besides – he was busy studying for a test)
so I let it go. My beloved? Sorry, but he’s not the best photographer
and again – embarrassing.

But then I suddenly had last Friday all to myself, remember?
So I thought – what the heck, let’s give it a try with the self timer.

I was wearing my old, comfy house suit, but I dressed up the lower part
of my body (c.q. legs) in nylon stockings and put my heels on.
The best light to take a photo (and a ‘free wall’ to place my feet) was in the
bedroom, so I placed the camera in the window-sill and put a pillow in place
where I would lay down (for focusing)
Then I hit the button – ‘ran’ to the spot – threw away the pillow – lay down
positioning my feet against the wall and waited for the ‘click-clack’.

I did this several times.

The photos looked absurd – but once I cut of the part where the worn out
sweatshirt and my red, sweaty face without make-up was visible.. the picture
was exactly what I was aiming for! I found a real funny quote to go with it,
so here’s my take on the prompt at These Are a Few of my Favourite Things

My favourite features: my legs!

“Darling, the legs aren’t so beautiful, I just know what to do with them.”
~ Marlene Dietrich ~

And you know what really made me giggle?

When I’d cut out the photo and positioned the image on my page,
I saw this:

Why had I wrenched my body into those weird positions?
I could have achieved the same effect by sitting on a chair!

I hope you enjoyed this extra post.
I hope you enjoyed the music.
I hope you have a lovely Sunday!
I’ll be back on Tuesday – well, let’s make that Wednesday.
See ya!

I woke up early this morning. My beloved had to take the train to Amsterdam,
and my son first has a test at the university and after that, will take the plane
to Berlin to spend the weekend. That means I have the house to myself today!
That’s pretty rare to me! Because my beloved and I have a home business, we
are together all the time. I must say, I enjoy being alone at home for a change!

I spend the morning with taking photos with the self-timer (with satisfying
results) and I plan on making a page with one of the photos this afternoon.
If everything goes according to plan, the layout will be in time for the prompt
at These are a few of my favorite things, but I do have to post it Sunday at
the latest. (That’s good news for you – you will get another extra post!)

It’s not Sunday yet… so here’s what I made in the last couple of days.

Still enjoying the 30 days of lists!

List #2 – Thing’s you’re good at

List #3 – I’m looking forward to

List #10 – Wishlist

The numbers refer to the numbers of the prompts.
I don’t work on these prompts in the correct order.
I numbered my pages in my journal, and work on whatever ‘list’ I like.

The newspaper had an article about “Urban Intervention” this morning.
Have you ever heard of this? I was in oooh and aaah when I saw the photos
so I looked it up on the Internet for you.

Wikipedia: “Urban Interventionism is a name sometimes given to
a number of different kinds of activist art practices, art that typically
responds to the social community, locational identity, the built environment,
and public places….”

You might have heard of ‘knit graffiti’? That’s ‘Urban Intervention’ too!
My friend Lena wrote a post – with photos of her own ‘knit graffiti’ – here

However, the photo in the newspaper that caught my eye this morning
is this one:

This piece is made by an artist called Slinkachu.
You can find this photo, and a lot more, on his site.
I especially like his weblog The little people project.
I recommend you go there and have a smile!

There’s much more ‘urban intervention’ to be found on the Internet!
I have never seen anything like it in real life or in my city though, but
maybe it is there and I just didn’t notice? I will keep my eyes open!

I’m planning a creative weekend, and I’m starting this afternoon –
which is now!
Have a nice weekend, look out for little people and see you on Sunday!
