I love poetry.
I am especially fond of ‘found poetry’, and I mean found in all its forms… found in book titles, found in magazines, on book pages, cut out words and sentences – you name it. There is so much possible when it comes to ‘found poetry’… and this kind of poetry is also great to use on art journal pages also.

I therefore started FOUND POETRY FRIDAY – everyone is welcome to play along!

There is an “Inlinkz”-list at the end of this post. If you want to share your found poems, you are welcome to add your name to the list that will link us to your blogpost.

You can post your found poem on your own blog any time during the week, so you don’t have to make YOUR Fridays all about poetry – you just link us to the post that contains your poem. Please use the url that goes directly to you ‘found poetry post.’

With the campaign for FEATURING going on and all, I had no time (or ‘peace in my head’) to search for a poem this week… so here’s an old art journal spread with a found poem (from December 2011)

Ordinary people
lose themselves as they age.
I walk silent and slowly.
I know human diversity.
I realize aging and life history and
appreciate life in lower levels of stress.

I hope you found a poem this week?
If so, link us all up to your found poetry by using the InLinkz list below.

Enjoy the weekend!

It is around 69 Fahrenheit/20,5 Celsius today.
No, I didn’t spend a day at the beach, but I imagined one!
I made a sunny page with a haiku for Haiku my Heart Friday.

Een dag aan het strand

weer thuis vind ik zandkorrels

tussen mijn tenen

a day at the beach

back home I find grains of sand

between my toes

The sweet Rebecca hosts ‘Haiku my Heart’ every Friday.
She’s the core of the haiku circle and people from all over the world
come together at her place and share their haiku and images.
Find the list of participants here on Recuerda Mi Corazon.

..

I started the next page in my ‘Big Miscellaneous’ art journal
a couple of days ago. It didn’t turn out like I wished or hoped…
it’s kinda messy.

Tic Toc

(Size: 25 x 35 cm - 9.8 x 13.8 inch)

I know why I don’t like this page: it isn’t thought over and there’s too much
going on. I usually am in a so-called ‘concentration mode’ when I work in my
art journals, almost in a meditative state sometimes. Not this time though.
I worked on this page far too long – adding things and not really thinking –
and I was distracted most of the time.

Oh well, never mind.
I turn the page and start on another one. Not today though…
the weather is too bright to spend the afternoon inside the house.
I’m outta here!

I wish you all a lovely and sunny weekend.

It’s still freezing in the Netherlands and yes, our drainpipe is still frozen.
I haven’t done the laundry all week (don’t worry, I have plenty of clothes
to wear – not being able to choose the faves from my closet forced me to
make long forgotten picks from my wardrobe. I could even be seen in tights
with a flutter skirt and a woolen cardigan!)

Luckily, the weather forecast predicts warmer temperatures. YEAY!
I know, most of the Dutchies are disappointed that the ‘Elfstedentocht’
(see this post) won’t be held, but I’m not one of them. If it were up to me
it would be raining hot water as soon as possible, preferably right now!

Today is but the same as yesterday… sun, blue sky and freezing.
I wrote this haiku…

..

Koude winterdag

de wereld in herhaal stand

mag het nu dooien?

Cold winter morning

the world stays in repeat mode

how much longer still?

For ‘Haiku My Heart Friday’.
For more haiku and photos, visit Rebecca at Recuaerda mi Corazon.

OK, that was the freezing part – on to the lunatic (you were wondering eh?!)

I made this spread a couple of weeks ago (during my ‘blog vacation’, yes)
I played with water colour paints and water soluble crayons, in an attempt
to practise my drawing skills.
Pink Floyd’s song ‘Brain Damage’ had me triggered…

The Lunatic

(Size: 26 x 17 cm - 10.25 x 6.7 inch)

Here are the pages one by one, so you can take a closer look
(Click on the image to enlarge for a better view)

The Lunatic is on the Grass

(Size: 13 x 17 cm - 5.12 x 6.7 inch)

The Lunatic is in My Head

(Size: 13 x 17 cm - 5.12 x 6.7 inch)

While working on these pages, I thought it might be a fun idea to create
a series of this ‘lunatics’, but the idea was pushed to the background
and now I don’t know if I will follow… what do you think?
Is my ‘lunatic’ worth a series? Mwaaahhh…

I’m facing yet another busy weekend, but it’s going to be fun.
There’s a lot of creating involved you know – but I can’t tell you more
*teehee*

For the ones skating this weekend: stay on your feet (uhm… ‘skates’)
and for the chilly ones among you: stay warm!

Remember the little book I bound when I was teaching a workshop in Zeeland?
(see this post) I started working on the pages in that journal some time ago,
and last week I finished this spread.

Dreaming of a better life

You know I love poetry and besides writing haiku’s, I sometimes fool around
with magazine pages. This type of poems is called Found poetry

(Size: 26 x 17 cm - 10.25 x 6.7 inch)
The background is a photo cut out of a National Geographic magazine.
The text comes from the same magazine. I painted the page with black
India ink - leaving the words that I wanted for my poem readable.

The black ink left a glossy surface, which gives all kinds of reflections.
It was pretty difficult to photograph the pages – but after a little bit of editing
I got an image on which the text is kinda readable.

Ordinary people
lose themselves as they age.
I walk silent and slowly.
I know human diversity.
I realize aging and life history and
appreciate life in lower levels of stress.

All creative work that I will make in the next couple of days and that is not
top 2000 related will be showed next year.
I hope to see you on Sunday and every day during the blog party!
(I already received some submissions – including a layout from my brother.
Keep ‘m coming dear ones!)

Enjoy the holidays!
Let’s get creative and make some art with the music!!
