Goodmorning lovelies, it’s been a while since I wrote a ‘normal’ blogpost. I put all my energy in the Quirky Dutch Summer blogposts these days and BOY, this series of inspirational posts is popular! The Quirky Facebook group is buzzing and filling with beautiful pieces that participants create. If YOU want some (free!) inspiration and tutorials this Summer, you can check ik all out HERE.
Because of the above, and because of ‘laziness’, I skipped the usual ‘personal blogging’ a few times. I spend the Summer days wandering around the house. I hooked up with people (visited a friend, my son stayed with us for a day or two, family came over from Canada.) I also went to the local ‘Summer market’ and last week I spend an afternoon with my parents: my dad and I sat on a dyke sketching.
In between I tried to catch up in my “Chronicles” art journal, and although I am still behind in creating spreads with the weeks (we’re in week 28 and I am just about to start creating the pages for week 26) I have a few to show you.
But first: my desk this morning. (See the start of ‘week 26’?)
Here’s the art journal spreads from older weeks
The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 23
Week 23 was made in a ‘fast and furious’ mood… a newspaper clipping from a free outdoor concert I went to and I journaled about the ‘highlights of the week.’
The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 24
I spend a little more time creating the next spread, but I can still see the ‘catching up mood’ I was in – not much interest went into the background. I’m not very satisfied about this spread…
… but I do like the photo that I glued underneath the postcard. It’s an old photo of me that blew my mind when I found it again: “wowzah, was I really that young and beautiful? Then why was I so insecure back then?”
The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 25
I took more time to create the spread for week 25. The collage on the right is made with the Quirky Dutch Summer tutorial that Jenny the Bode wrote as a guest blogger (find it here) The photos on the page show my niece with her little daughter Alice, who came to visit us from Canada (on the top photo: mum, me, my niece Lisa & her daughter Alice, my dad, my son) and the photo beneath is my ex SIL with me. It was wonderful to catch up with them, I hadn’t seen my SIL for 7 years (and my niece even longer… the last time I saw Lisa she was 14 years old!)
Seeing these spreads I again realize how time flies by so fast… let’s make the most of each day!
Je t’embrasse.

I think a break does us good often and it sounds like you’ve been having an amazing time over the summer with your family and friends – and doing some great artwork too! It is good to see you back on the desks today though!

Glad you enjoyed your break, Marit. What a lovely lot of creativity going on on your desk at the moment! Thank you for your comment which made me smile – cooking lol! You don’t know what you are missing my dear!! I have such fun with it and we really enjoy eating the results which are deeeelicious! (Better than a sandwich any day, but that’s just my opinion!!) I’m afraid when you got to my studio picture you were in for a big disappointment – nothing much going on in that department at the moment!
Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi (still smiling) #9 x

It sounds like you’ve had a great time, taking a break from blogging and spending time with family. I’ve been doing the same as you but I’m hoping to get back to blogging regularly again – that’s the intention anyway! I love your journal pages and what a lovely photo of you – lots of fabulous creativity going on.
Have a great week,
Hugs, Diana x #19

Hi Marit, lovely to see all those pages, and I adore the ‘younger’ pic of you! It’s true, when young we do not appreciate ourselves enough! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

Hi Marit, I feel I may have made you think I am more tidy than is true. The ribbons came with those boxes the rest of my collection is scrambled in a box some where, what a con ha!ha! Your break from the blogging sounds great and just what everyone needs on occasions. I’ve been trying to fit it all in but you just can’t do everything for sure. Have a lovely woyww and thanks for the comment over at mine. Angela x14x

Well hello there you stunner you. Yes you were (and I still think you are) a good looker. I only need to look at last year’s photos to see the change in me, shows what pain does to one. Anyway, enough of that. Love your chronicle pages, I don’t think attention to background matters too much with your chronicles as the content is so super and if I could understand Dutch, interesting no doubt. I just love seing all the pictures you choose to illustrate your work.
If I had a choice between blogging and sketching with my dad sat on a dyke I know which I would choose – the same as you Enjoy whilst you can.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Wow, that’s a beautiful photo of you, you haven’t changed a bit lovely girl. You really are super busy and I think just a couple of weeks behind on the chronicles is OK, it’s fascinating that you can ‘see’ the time spent on each page…I wonder if you’ll see it so clearly in ten years when you look back!

Dear Marit I see no laziness amongst your past few weeks but enjoyment of socialising and sharing time with others, it is impossible for us to be in every place we wish to at once. We have to share our time and Summer always gives us the energy to do these things, no guilt just enjoy.
Super chronicles, I must try this one day.
Isn’t it funny when we look back at old photographs and can see and at times still feel the insecurities we had back then. A very happy & Beautiful photograph.
Happy WoywW Hugs Tracey xx

Thanks for the visit. So glad you made the time to enjoy friends and family. Time for ourselves is important and gives us the inspiration to dig deeper. I think you have accomplished a lot in a short period of time with your chronicles. Have a great week.

I don’t blame you for enjoying the weather and catching up with family and friends Marit. You will soon catch up with your chronicles. Great photo of your younger self! My parents will be back from Canada by next week (they’ve spent two months visiting my brother). Happy WOWYW. Sarah #4

Ah good to see you back and am sure the time spent with family friends worthy occupations in every way, esp the painting with dad on a dyke, how utterly wonderful. A memory to treasure forever. Just like the beautiful young you in 1985! We all looked better then! But happy to be here now too. 😉
Happy belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #20
