Desk, pens, art journals, mussels & art history

October 10, 2018 By Marit 14 Comments

Good morning lovelies (but I really should say ‘good afternoon’ because I type this on Tuesday. It seems that the appointments I have lately are all on Wednesdays so I will not be around today – again.) I have a few things to show and since ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ I will not go on and rattle but just put the photos in this post… (probably with a little explanation – I know I can’t help myself.)

First: a photo of my desk and what’s on it this morning. After alll, that is why you came to visit me isn’t it?

WOYWW #488

When you are a regular visitor you know I have a yellow, plastic cutlery tray on my desk that holds my markers, pens and pencils. Part of those pens (black markers) moved to another holder ’cause look what I found last week on a flea market…!

This wooden box is originally to store sigarets but when I saw it standing at the market stall I thought it would be perfect for markers. And it is!

On to the art journaling… here’s the latest two spreads in my weekly ‘visual diary’ – the journal is on my desk (see top photo) and I’m working on a spread for week 40 (which was last week.)

The Chronicles of Marit 2018 – Week 38

The Chronicles of Marit 2018 – Week 39

I’m still drawing – here’s what I ate for dinner on September 28 (my fave food: mussels! This was a pre-birthday-dinner with my beloved and parents.)

And last but not least: next week my online workshop A CREATIVE ART JOURNEY starts. There’s still time to register and I would be over the moon if you joined!

This online workshop combines art history with scrapping/art journaling.

Lessons available in English and Dutch

October 16 – November 23; 2018
(12 lessons over 6 weeks; posted on Tuesdays and Fridays)

If you love art journaling and are eager to learn some art history along the way, this is the workshop for you!

In 12 lessons you will be introduced to 12 different art periods in time. Each lesson concentrates on a specific art period, handling the characteristics and showing the artists and highlights. Every lesson comes with multiple prompts – inspired by the specific period/art – from which you can choose which one suites you best. More info on my website HERE

That’s all for now, I’m off to do something special (I’ll tell about it later…) Thanks for your visit, enjoy your day.

Morning Marit. I do hope your workshop gets lots of support – Afraid I don’t journal at all – so I won’t be joining you… That drawing of a dish of mussels is so good. Well done. What a find at the market – that box is just great for those pens!
    Take care. God bless.

I love what you found at the flea market, it holds those essentials perfectly. I could do with a special holder for those important pens as mine are dotted around in various cases..
Your art work is as always inspirational.. Have a wonderful week & Happy WOYWW.

Wow your black pens couldn’t be more stylishly stored now! What a great idea you had when you saw the holder. Oh I don’t like Mussels, but isn’t it wonderful when you can share your favourite things with your lovelies, no doubt it made your birthday even more special! Love the Chronicles as always, struggling to believe that week 38 already!

Great use of that wooden holder Marit. Hope all goes well with your online workshop. I am trying Inktober for the first time, but I have to do an under drawing in pencil first! Have a good week. Sarah #3

Sorry I am so late in visiting but I have had a very mixed and busy week.
Just love the new pen box although I do think the cutlery tray is a good idea – if only my desk was big enough I would have a purple one.
Great journal pages as usual – lovely to see your work.
It’s lovely sat here today seeing the sunlight dappling through the trees whilst I okay catch up. Hope you are having a nice day.
