It’s almost lunchtime and I spend a good amount of time writing – and especially translating – this haiku…
The photo is made by my friend Lena Schreijenberg
Stekeligheden kondigen de bui al aan. Dat wordt gedonder! |
Prickly elements announce rough weather ahead. There’s gonna be trouble! |
In Dutch, the haiku has a double meaning but I could not get quite catch that in English. Least of all did I manage to get the correct number of syllables. Before I spend all afternoon trying to find the exact words, I call it finished and trust you ‘get the message’ despite the poor translation.
I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart.
I spend my day off yesterday creating a spread in my art journal. Week 34 was a week with high Summer temperatures, so the postcard is an extra funny touch… see the detail photos.
The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 34
While temperatures hit the 30 degrees (Celcius), my mama send me this card together with funny socks… the socks are from fabric they make nylon stockings from – very, VERY thin – with little hearts woven into it. My mum knows all too well that I will never, ever put on crazy idiot socks like that.
I burst into laughter when I read the card: “Dear Marit, here a already a pair of socks because winter is coming. Love from your mum.”
Little things like that make my day.
Enjoy your weekend, I hope you have days filled with laughter too!

You make my day, dear Marit. Over here, with our crazy weather, it feels like I’m wearing stockings on my head (I love seeing your journal!) and what a treasure to receive those socks from your mum even though you will never wear them! Your haiku and Lena’s photo… say a lot. Thank you for their message and your beautiful expression in so many ways. XO

That’s a “sharp” haiku!

I appreciate all of your hard work. I like the haiku.
I think the card your mother sent is full of love.
