Wonderful photograph and haiku! Both the photo and the haiku seem as though they are reflecting on the “last days of summer” when the beach—once crowded with people—is now empty. Do the people still remember where they once were? Is that memory enough to carry them through?

Strand is the perfect word here, for many reasons. I love how our languages dip into each other and expand what we know, or think we know.
