Friday haiku & old men

August 2, 2019 By Marit 6 Comments

Goodmorning lovelies – days fly by and before I know it, another week is gone… a week in which the temperatures dropped a little, thank goodness. It’s also the time that most people are on holidays and my ‘island’ (which is actually a peninsula) overflows with tourists. When my beloved and I dare to go outside, we almost have to use our elbows to get to the grocery shop. On warm days, the beaches are packed too. My friend Lena avoids the crowds by going for walks in the early morning hours to find the beach empty… but still she isn’t always alone, last week there was some activity going on…

The photo is made by my friend Lena Schreijenberg

Friday haiku

Een man. Een duintop.
Een veelkleurige vlieger
en een grote sprong…
A man. A dune top.
A multicoloured glider
and a giant leap…

I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart.

I finished two canvasses that lay waiting for the final touches. Old men with pale faces, wrinkles and bags under their eyes: it pleases me to put them on paper or canvas. I no longer wonder where they all come from or what the hidden message is, I just bring them into the world and let them exist.

I hope you look (and feel) better than these greenish men, have a beautiful weekend y’all!

Je t’embrasse.

Hello Marit! That is a leap… I could only make in dream time! I love seeing your green men. Maybe that is them after parasailing? I hope the crowds part to let you through in your beautiful part of the world!

Love your haiku. Wish I could paraglide, but not parasail…not over the sharks! The green men are full of character.
