… something is really, really cooking
to make my blog even more fun.
Yep – I know – this is a teaser
(and no, it has nothing to do with the title of this post –
that comes later)
I can’t say more except:
… there is this idea.
… there is excitement for having this bubbling in my mind.
… there will be some work involved (for me.)
… YOU will be part of it (that is, if you like.)
OK – enough – forget about it now.
(for a week or so)
On to my weekly chronicles
and the thoughts I had about my page last week…
I work a lot with neutral colours lately – something not everybody likes –
so I thought to please you by throwing in some colours and an ‘old fashion’
collage.
It was fun to do,ย and that was it. Nothing more.
I ended up with this page that doesn’t feel like ‘me’.
The picture that came out has nothing to do with the emotions
I had or things I did last week. A page with a collage like this one
turns out to be less personal and one cannot feel any emotions
shining through, there’s no ‘psychical layers’ or dept.
Creating this was just ‘doing the trick’ – and end up with a pretty image.
There’s nothing wrong with that of course – but I want my
Chronicles to exhale ME… and this is not it.
Which reminds me of this blogpost by Elizabeth Michelle Remy
that I read last week and that really stroke me
Taking a Trend to Task: Part 2
Still… this spread is in my journal now and that’s OK.
I will turn the page and move on.
The Chronicles of Marit 2012 – Week 20
(Size: 24,5 x 49 cm โ 9.65 x 14.86 inch)
In the end, it comes down to this:
“I don’t have to colour my pages to live a colourful life!”
Have a lovely week dear ones!

You are a tease!!! Loving the journal page… loving how you have journaling out of her long nails!!
Irma says
Zonnige groetjes – Irma

It may be “prettier” than you are used to, but I love how you used model’s fingers to make the lines for the journaling.

Best thing about journaling is that anything goes ! You couldn’t help but have a colourful life, Marit. You have such a colorful SOUL !
Happy playing !

I followed your link to Remy’s blog and completely agree with her on the blandness of the facial images. I think people want to produce something quickly so they follow a formula from a workshop or book rather than using the workshop or book as a starting point, a suggested path or prompt, or a study in technique. I admire you for your originality and your bravery in your journaling and your art; and from looking at the gallery of your students, I can tell that you are teaching and inspiring them to go their own ways in exploring and creating art. Love this journal page with the funky journaling fingernails!

Your teases always lead to something wonderful – I can’t wait! I applaud your honesty and recognizing what does and does not both express and feed your artistic soul at this moment. I love seeing how you convey so much thought and emotion, movement and moments in your neutral palette.
