Hi there sweeties, goodmorning! Are you curious to get that title explained? I’ll come to that in a minute… first, let me show you what my desk looked like (photo taken yesterday) – ’cause that’s what is WOYWW (What’s On Your Work desk, Wednesday) is all about: showing your desk and sharing it with the ‘tribe’ that’s lead by our ‘headmistress’ Julia over at Stamping Ground.
Yep, I was working on a layout over the last couple of days… and this photo proves that I am indeed able to make some mess (sort of…) To me this is ‘mess’ because I remember swearing ’cause I couldn’t find my scissors (see where it is?)
The inducement to start another scrap layout was:
A challenge over at the Facebook scrapbooking challenge group Dutch Dares
The ‘dare’ for this month is to scrap your favourite film or TV-series.
I combined this challenge with the following sketch
The combination of those two challenges lead to this layout
Scandinavian crime series
Some explanation: the background shows maps (parts of Denmark & Sweden.) I used scrap-paper from my stash (the ‘tartan’ squares, the red dotted paper, a left over piece of plastic sheet with bricks on it ~ remember that was a hype in the scrapbooking world years ago? ~ and small dark blue pieces of paper behind the photos.) The journaling spot was cut out of a bigger sheet. The photos were printed, cut out and I used foam tape to adhere them. The title is partly written and partly made out of wooden letters. There’s some Washi tape too, and I finished this layout off with dark red distress inked edges.
The journaling is in Dutch, here’s a detail photo and I will translate it for my English blog readers (… do not get impatient now, I didn’t forget and will come to the ‘nitpicker part’ soon… read on!)
“It started in April 2017 with a DVD box “Wallander” that we borrowed from my dad and from that moment on, we’re hooked on Scandinavian crime series. We hire these DVDs at the local library. “Binge watching” is not longer a strange word to us. Marius manages time after time to find a new series that we haven’t seen yet and the list grows steadily.”
OK, so we have this list that we add the title of every movie or series to after we watched it. It’s a long list, and I choose four titles from it to highlight on the photos on this layout and as a substitude for the flower that’s pictured on the sketch, I looked online for a photo that shows a stack of DVDs. And I found such a photo, of course (you can find almost anything on the internet, isn’t it?) Only problem was, you can guess it, the titles on the DVD boxes… and although I needed a small printed image, it disturbed me that the backs of the boxes on this photo had titles like: Ice Age, Top Gun, High School Musical, Flinstones and Scooby-doo…
There were even little photos on the spines. No matter how small, I kept on seeing Mel Gibson on one of those tiny photos…
So you know what? I opend Photoshop and changed all (yes ALL) the titles on this photo. I choose titles from Scandinavian series and movies we’ve watched.
And you know what? I replaced all (ALL) the tiny little photos that were visible on the backs of these boxes (see yellow arrows.)
It took me a day.

So now you know, I spend a whole day changing the titles and photos on this image.
I am a nitpicker like that!
One last detail photo of the title.
I hope you all have a lovely day and week with lots of sunshine and when it rains, you know what?
You take that as an excuse to watch a crime series!

That is absolutely wonderful! I would say you are a perfectionist rather than a nit picker. What a labour of love. I am a bit stuck for words because it really is awesome.

Blimey, wouldn’t it have been easier to pile up all your DVDs and taken a pic of that instead??! Lol. I admire your tenacity and patience Marit. I do like your ‘take’ of the challenge LO, very clever indeed. And did you ever find your scissors? 🙂
Hugs LLJ 10 xxx

Yah, right – but we hire the DVDs from the library so I don’t have those boxes at home, otherwise I would have taken a picture… which makes me think that I could have walked to the library to collect them on a table overthere to take a photo…

Hi Marit, wow, what a labour intensive job that turned out to be! Great job though, looks amazing. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #3 X

It’s a great page Marit, but the story of its creation is possibly even greater! I think you should print this blog post and attach it to the back of the page for posterity. I understand your reasoning with the stack of DVDs and am as always, amazed at your patience, I don’t have the skill with photoshop. What a great job, the pile of DVDs looks fantastic!

Oh yes, a professor of fine detail and there is nothing wrong with nitpicking.. better to do that than have sleepless nights thinking about what you could/should have done. You have nailed that prompt Marit..
We have Wallander here maybe a remake ?? Good viewing though.

P.S I searched to find those scissors too :))

Wow, what a great layout! I think instead of “nitpicker” I would say “perfectionist”! It is certainly something I would have spent all day doing as well, and I’m willing to bet you loved every minute! I’m sure I’ve seen Wallander on Netflix, I will have to look for some of the other titles. Have a wonderful week, Lindart #34
