Not much time to write a blogpost today but some things to show,
so you have to settle for a few images and a haiku.. I’ll keep it short.
(I can almost hear you giggle – ‘Marit? Keep it short?’)
But I mean it. Two art journal pages, a photo and a haiku. That’s it!
When I uploaded
the images for this
post, I noticed the
work is all focused
on red (hence the
title). I wasn’t even
aware of that when
I worked on these
pages!
This is a detail
photo of a page I
made in the ‘grid’
journal last week.
Can you tell what it is yet?
(You can click on each photo in this post to enlarge)
It may get clear here… yep, that’s me!
Self portrait in pixels
15 x 15 cm - 6 x 6 inch The grid is 3 x 3 mm - 0.12 x 0.12 inch Used materials: Ruler, pencil, Caran d'Ache watersoluble crayons & small brush
This page isn’t artistic at all – I made it because my mojo was dropped
to a low, just to keep my hands busy. I edited a photo in Photoshop
and copied the pixels onto the page. A bit like a cross stitch pattern.
It’s funny though, how the portrait comes to live when you look at it
from an angle!
I made the next art journal page earlier in the week
Somewhere Down the Crazy River
29,7 x 21 cm - 16.9 x 8.3 inch.
Used: gesso, acrylic paint, sequin waste, Ranger Adirondack Color Wash, 'fiber paper', pages from an old encyclopedia, distress ink, Indian ink, bamboo dip pen, Caran d'Ache watersoluble crayons, white Sharpies
And here’s for Haiku my Heart
Zomer is voorbijde geranium neemt afscheid
met een rood vaarwel |
Summer is overthe geranium blooms once more
with a red farewell |
I’ve written better haiku’s – but I post this one anyway.
Haiku My Heart is a wonderful place where people from all over the world
post beautiful photos and and write amazing Haiku. It is hosted by Rebecca
and you can find the list of participants on her blog recuerda mi corazon.
I wave a ‘red farewell’ to you too… enjoy the weekend and see you next week!

I like this haiku.
Oh and it is true. That picture really pops at an angle. It is an interesting technique.

Dianne says
love those journal pages…both turned out terrific!
Kim Mailhot says
That pixel portrait is awesome ! I want to do that too ! What a great addition to your journal.
Love the sweet haiku too. Brought my geraniums in for the winter as we had the risk of frost last week. My inside is looking kind of like a jungle right now but I hate to see plants die from the cold…We shall see how many make it through the winter indoors.
I hope you have a great weekend, oh Talented One !

Goh, toen ik de eerste foto van je zelfportret in je grid-journal zag, dacht ik: yeah, right! Can be everybody!
Fijn weekend!!

I love your pixel self-portrait. I would not have guessed what it was right away but I think that it is very creative. Even when your “mojo” is low you do very well. I really love your photos too. the haiku is sweet and wistful. A red farewell to you and summer too. Welcome Autumn in.

Love how you did your photo! I just got a few (8) of the carans at an art show – I also got a few other things you might like – some water soluble graphite, both in stick and container form – you can draw and paint with it – makes wonderful gray scale pictures. I also got some gold gesso and took a class – I can hardly wait to try it out!
