Good morning all… are you looking forward to the Easter weekend? Any fun plans? I have… artsy plans! Yep, I plan on playing. I finally used my new gelli-plate yesterday and a bunch of beautiful background papers came out of that session. I plan on using those for covers of small note books I want to make this weekend. I want to create a stack of those as April 18 is fast approaching…
What’s on April 18 then?
Well, THIS IS
On Saturday, April 18 there is this Spring Fair and I will be there all day.
With three other artist-friends I share a class room where we show and sell our art.
Any change you are in the neighborhood? I would love to see you there.
More info about the Spring Fair is HERE on my website.
So far for the ‘preparation part’ of the title, let’s move on to the ‘completion’ part shall we…
I completed another page for The Documented Life Project.
Here’s the challenge I worked with
March 21
March Theme: Making Your Mark (Doodles & Mark Making)
Art Challenge: As a Focal Point
Journal Prompt: Coming into Focus
When I saw the word ‘Focus’ I thought about a series of photos my son took from me a few years ago. I wanted to make the photo he took of me and the camera to make my focal point. Here’s the original photo
I edited the photo with the ‘Cutout’ filter in Photoshop so that the image got more abstract. I then printed it and copied the lines onto my art journal page. I colored the image with crayons. I painted the rest of the page black and journaled around the focal image with a white marker. The text is about the memories I have of me and my dad developing and printing photos in the kitchen, which we turned into a ‘dark room’. Now that photographing turned digital, I guess nobody is shooting pics with an analogous camera and/or develops photos in a dark room anymore – youngsters may not know even, that in the old days you had to put a photo roll in the camera that had a limited amount of photos (negatives.) I guess the fact that I remember this makes me old too…
I wish you all a happy Easter, see you next week!

Great use of that fun photo your son took dear Marit!
And don’t I just wish I could join you and your artsy pals at the Lentebazaar.
I bet it will be wonderful and inspiring with your artwork there!
Happy Easter
Happy Spring
Happy Happy Everything to you and yours
