Summer in the Netherlands.
Grey skies and 63 degrees outside.
Sweatshirt and thick socks.
Endless reruns on television.
I go with the flow so today I show you my own ‘rerun’
of a little book I made for my mum in 2008
(yes, I’ve been writing haiku’s for years…)
..
Back then, I didn’t bind my own books yet.
I altered a small, chipboard children’s book and transformed it
into this little album.
Stapeltje stenen
boulders found in France
lay on the garden table Zen in October |
I won’t remove moss
’cause at night when I’m asleep fairies dance here |
Roze, oranje
Pink, orange and red
hang side by side to dry, looks like Bhagwan laundry |
My bird made of wood
when I pull his string, I fly right back to Zeeland |
(Re-reading these old haiku’s, I have the feeling that my writing has improved.
What do you think?)
Go to Haiku my Heart to read more Haiku from all over the world.
Did you notice the ‘Art Journal gids‘ logo in the side menu?
Ilse Hobbelen started an online ‘guide for art journalers’
The website is in Dutch, and is meant to be a guide for Dutch people
who want to start art journaling. The website is worth a visit.
You’ll find information about basic materials, tools, techniques
and links to inspiring other artists (Me!
You can also leave a link to your own blog if you want.
Better weather is predicted.
Tour de France has almost reached it’s climax – finish in Paris.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Oh Marit, these are wonderful haiku! I love them all. The first one, the rocks on the table. I am working very hard on a post about rocks. I have photos of rocks on a table we have had through the years. Even though we have moved a lot, we always move the rocks. They are family menbers, Zen for sure!
The next one, a place for Fairies to dance. I just love this no end!
The little book. Didn’t we talk about little books? So cool. I love coming here on Fridays. Hope you have a terrific week.
Peace

The books are truly sweet and creative and the haikus show humor and inventiveness. I like all of them. They show a lot of personality and no pretension. Just simple and lovely. I like what you do now too. You are great all the time! Nice gift for your mom.

What an absolutely fabulous gift for your mother. Old haikus and new are all exquisite. I did go to the art journal link–but alas, though I am Dutch/American, I don’t speak or read Dutch.
