Yessss, temperatures are rising and I still have that ‘Spring feeling’.
It’s not very warm outside, but sun rays seemed to keep a promise and it
makes me bubble with energy. I swept the floor, cleaned the bathroom
and ran around waving the dust away… the house needs thorough cleaning,
but I will save the big job for the annual Spring cleaning… in a month or so?
…
…
Spring is still in the hair too.
When I washed my hair the other day, I was finished in a jiffy
– and I just had to shake my head for it was dry (so to speak 😉 .)
It made me think back on the years when I had long hair…
and when I say long, I mean LONG alright!
Washing my hair back then was quite a challenge… shampooing gave me
cramp in my arms – not to mention the amount of shampoo that it cost.
Also, it took a day for my hair to dry. (I hardly ever used a blow dryer but
when I did it still took me over an hour – due to thick hair and a lot of it.)
This photo shows me with the longest hair I ever had (in 1997).
Of course it wasn’t that long in the last years, but the hairdresser still
cut off about 3 inch (7,5 cm).
OK, enough with the hair… on to the weekly art journal page
The Chronicles of Marit 2012 – Week 7
(Size: 24,5 x 49 cm – 9.65 x 14.86 inch)
The images on the right are cut from a magazine and for the photo I used
the most easy transfer technique there is: ‘tape transfer’. Now I could tell
you how it’s done of course, but I remembered Julie Balzer once made a
video tutorial about this technique, so I looked it up for you. It’s what she
calls a ‘one minute technique’ and everyone can do it!
View Julie’s 1:18 minutes video here.
I don’t use this technique a lot myself ’cause most times I don’t want
that shiny surface that tape leaves on the picture, but every once in
a while it comes in handy, especially when time is limited!
You don’t have to mirror your image or wait for it to dry – you can use
the transferred image on your pages right away. Sounds good eh?!
I have some exciting plans for this week and I hope everything
will go as planned so I can tell you about it on Friday.
I wish you all beautiful days, transfer some ‘Spring pictures’!

Kim Mailhot says
I like the quickness and easiness of the transfer technique too but not the shiny. Somtimes I put a layer of matte gel medium over it to take the gloss away…
That was some long hair ! I only had long hair when I was about 10 or 11 and have always had it to my shoulders or shorter since them. Quick to wash and style works for me too !
I hope your week it full of some sweet creative moments!
Hugs, my friend !

great use of the technique. I love seeing your long hair. Mine isn’t quite that long yet. It is so curly that I don’t mind the drying process. I dry it halfway with a diffuser and then let it air dry. NO BRUSH!!!

Liefs,
Simone

Marit, you look exactly the same as that picture! If I hadn’t known your hair was shorter, I would have thought it was you now!!
Your page is awesome, I slightly remember the tape technique from Julie’s blog, but I’m off to see it again!
