Most of you who follow me for longer then a year recognize this logo… and the story behind it.
For those who don’t know, a brief history (you find the complete story and ‘rules’ in the top menu on this blog HERE!)

From Christmas to New Year, the Radio 2 team presents the 2000 favorite songs of the listeners. Music! 24 hours a day! In 2009 I started my ‘top 2000 blog party’ in the slipstream of the top 2000. I created art every day inspired by a song from the list. Everyone was invited to play along and create to the music – and I posted all the submissions on my blog. What success it was! Even the top 2000 people picked up my ‘party’ and came to film me back in 2011. The video can still be seen here on youtube.

The Top 2000 list with the fave songs from the listeners is being composed this week and that is where today’s blogpost comes in!

Vote for your fave songs from December 1 – December 7

I made a ‘tutorial’ for all my English-speaking fellow-artists who want to play along… the fun starts right here as you can now vote for your favorite songs to get in the list! The highest ranked 2000 songs will be played on the radio/Internet in the last week of 2019.

The voting site is pretty simple to use so even if you don’t speak/read Dutch you can easily go through it. Still, I made screendumps for you if you need help, so you can look at the images below to see how it works – then go to the TOP 2000 VOTING WEBSITE and find your fave songs to vote on.

Have fun!

(You can click on the images to enlarge!)

Vote a minimum of 5 songs and a maximum of 35… you can choose songs from the list but also add artists and songs that are not on the list…

When you click that you want to add a new song/artist, you get the following window

When you reach the minimum of 5, the bottom button turns read – meaning that you can go to the next step if you like. (but you can of course go on selecting songs untill you reach the maximum of 35 songs.)

Step 2 shows your list, you can motivate your choices if you like

Step 3: you need to fill out some date… the * fields are required.

This next page is a survey, you can skip this page

The last page shows your voting list. You can share it on Facebook and/or Twitter if you like.
Click ‘save and finish’ at the bottom and you’re done.

You don’t have to confirm any emails anymore… you will receive an email that shows your list and contains a link so that you can see/share your list online.

Voting closes at 5 pm EST on Saturday, December 7

You can start submitting your art-with-the-songs as soon as the ‘official list’ is announced and online (December 20). There will be a form that you can use to submit your art – the Top 2000 list will be linked to that form so you can easily find/submit the song that you worked with. The form will be online the moment the list is announced.

Find the top 2000 posts from the last years [2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018] here.
Top 2000 posts from 2010 and 2009 can be found in these archives.

The party started already in my Top 2000 Facebook Group where I post art from the archives.

P.S. Curious to see my list? Find my voting-list HERE

I took a photo of my desk as it was yesterday late in the afternoon, knowing that it would look the same this morning. Carving stamps from erasers… I LOVE it!

WOYWW #300

And now… head all over to Julia’s at Stamping Ground, where you’ll find the list of deskers all around the world celebrating this milestone by showing their desks. Oh, and if you want to show a picture of your desk too, please join in!  As Julia says it: “it doesn’t matter if this is your 1st, 51st, 201st or 300th join…we wanna know what you’re doing and see where your doing it…”

Turn your music boxes on to hear “the Top 2000 list” play!

Today is the last day of the Top 2000 – and we go out with a BANG! So many beautiful songs will play on the radio today, and so many beautiful art pieces came in for this last blogparty-post… (and still there’s more coming in, people also still submit pieces with ‘higher numbers’ to go in former post… so even if you’ve seen last week’s posts, check them out for new art as well.) And now, let’s not hesitate: go see all the awesomeness in today’s post

If there is more coming in today, I will add them to this post and change the number at the top, so you only have to look at the number to see if there’s more added during the day.

(If you want to play along you better hurry, ’cause this is the last day that the Top 2000 is playing… but anyway, if you think you can manage that, read this post for details )

**The Top 2000 list for 2014 can be found online HERE

Only ten nights sleep left, and then the Top 2000 will be broadcasted on the radio and my Creative & Musical Blog Party breaks out… the countdown has begon! The list with songs for 2014 will be announced** Friday, November 19, and from then on you can start choosing songs, create something with it and send in submissions.

The link to the Top 2000 songlist can be found in the side menu of this blog as of Friday (I put it there as soon as the list and link is announced**.)

For my blogreaders who know what The Top 2000 Musical Blog party is all about and are eagerly waiting for this: Yaaaayyyy…. we will make the last week of the year ONE BIG MUSICAL AND CREATIVE PARTY AGAIN!

For the readers who have no idea what I’m talking about here: read the info and join!

It is for the sixth year now that I host a “Top 2000 Creative & Musical Blog Party” on my blog in the last week of the year, and YOU are INVITED!

The Top 2000? What’s that?
The “top 2000” is a BIG, annual event in the Netherlands on radio and television. From Christmas right to the New Year, the Radio 2 team in the Netherlands presents the 2000 favorite songs of the listeners. 24 hours a day! You can listen to this 156-hour musical marathon on the website or tune in on Radio 2.

Now you may think “Huh, a Dutch party.. what have I got to do with that?”
Well, my ‘Top 2000 Creative Blog Party” is not at all ‘Dutchies only’… each year, more and more international crafters and artists join in. After all, music is an international inspiration and we are all able to enjoy the music and create something (anything!) inspired by a song from the top2000 list.

How special my international blog party is, got proved by the fact that the Dutch media picked up my initiative and send a television crew from the digital television channel (Cultura 24) to film and interview me in 2011! You can view that video HERE on YouTube.

Date & time
The blog party starts at the same time that the radio will start broadcasting in the Netherlands, which is Thursday, December 25 at 12.00 (noon) CET (Central European Time.) The broadcasting starts with playing number 2000 and they work their way up to the number one, that will play on New Year’s Eve just before midnight. Now that’s something isn’t it – 24 hours, day and night: MUSIC!

Ofcourse, living outside the Netherlands you won’t be able to find “station 2” on your radios, therefore – as an ‘extra’ – I will link the radio broadcasting to my blog. You only have to tune in to my blog to hear the music play!

OK, got it… but what is “The Top 2000 Creative Blog Party?”
My blogparty brings together all art that is made inspired by the songs on the Top 2000 list. Joining the party is FREE and SIMPLE – you don’t even have to own a blog or online gallery to play along. Here’s how it is done:

‘RULES’ to keep in mind when you want to play along
Pick a song (or more) from the top 2000 list and use the song as inspiration for your art. (Interpret freely!) You can create art in every form: scrap layouts, drawings, paintings, art journal pages, photos, postcards, ATC’s… whatever!

E-mail a photo of your work to top2000party@maritspaperworld.com (find the e-mail also on my blog in the side menu – with the top 2000 blinkie)

In your e-mail, please state

• name of the artist
• song title
• what number the song is in the top 2000 list****
• date of broadcasting****(you will find the date on the top 2000 list)

****Please don’t forget these as I don’t want to spend hours online scrolling through the list to find out which song you were inspired by and its number on the list!!!

also state:

• your name
• link to your website/blog (if you have one)

I will publish your art on my blog with your (linked) name on the date the song is playing on the radio/Internet.

You can play as little or as much as you like but there is one additional rule: I publish no more then two pieces per artist per day on one day. (I added this extra rule to avoid that one artist overflows a post on just one particular day.) This means that the total submission is 2 (art pieces) x 7 (days) is 14 art pieces in total – spread over seven days. Mind you: that’s the total. You are free to submit just one piece. Or two. Or three… Oh well, you get the picture, right?!

Following the list (Central European Time), new blogposts with the art for the next 24 hours go online at midnight. Art pieces that are submitted later will be add to the post during the day. A number at the top of each post will tell you how many art pieces are published in that day’s post, so you can keep track of new art that was add during the day.
