Saturday I  went to the university with my son.
I followed three lectures in ‘artificial intelligence’ (that’s what my son studies).
This was part of a parents day. It was nice to be back in the classroom – but I
was sooooo tired afterwards! My brain is more specialized in art journaling!

With all of this going on, my time to journal was very limited…

..

On Sunday evening, my ‘chronicles’ page had a orange background
(spray ink with salt technique) but nothing more.

The hours went, the Monday went, and I decided to just call it a week.
I stenciled the week title, the dates and wrote one sentence.
It says something like “not this week then…”

I wasn’t satisfied with that one sentence though… I thought it would
make me wonder later, when I flip through this journal, ‘what the heck
was going on this week?’ So I add some journaling. Just to explain
to my ‘older self’ that I had a busy week. All in all, I love this page!

Here’s the ‘old secret’….

Last year, in December to be precisely, I made a page to submit for
the book Seth from the Altered Page was working on.
Some of you may remember the page I submitted? (It wasn’t chosen
for the book, and I published the work here.)

Before I made the page that I submitted, I worked on another one.
I didn’t like it then, I found it not good enough to send to Seth, so
I put it away. Last week, flipping through my album, I came across
that page again and guess what? I like it now!

Do you ever have this? You create something and you don’t like it,
but when you look back at it later, it suddenly appeals to you?

Back in November, Seth asked for submissions of new artwork to be
created specifically in response to these three prompts.

1. Share a secret as expressed in an artwork.
2. Create an artwork that expresses your biggest fear.
3. Create an artwork that reflects the innermost part of you.

The one I submitted was made in response to prompt 3 (innermost)
The one I made before that, is about secrets.

Let’s take a look first, before I explain the ‘secret’ part…

Secrets

30.5 x 30.5 cm - 12 x 12 inch. printed photos cut in strips and woven
- white cardstock - acrylic paint - stamp - versamark - black embossing
powder - machine stitching with red thread.

What’s with the secrets then, you ask.
Well, I took photos of the most ‘secret’ pages in my old diaries.
I cut the photos in strips and wove them, so it’s not readable anymore…
(Ha, I bet for a moment you thought I would reveal my secrets online  😉 )

I still think it’s not the best work I ever made (but what is? I can’t tell,
can you?) but it’s worth showing to you. What do you think of this lay-out?
