It’s ‘Haiku my Heart Friday’ and last week I tried something different…
It all had to do with the FEATURING store that went online.
Not only can people order the magazine, they also can buy a square inch space
on the back cover of the magazine – and this is where my idea came from.
The information says that you should send in ‘art inchies’ only
because it is almost impossible to read text on a square inch.
Yes, I know the info says that, I wrote that myself!
… what about haiku?
Haiku doesn’t have much words.
Would that work?
So I experimented a bit.
See what I did.
I wrote my weekly haiku and I put the poem on the photo.
In English, the last sentence doesn’t have the right amount of syllables.
In Dutch it does.
Zeemeeuw op de pier
op een grauwe, grijze dag
snavel in de wind
Now scale it to a square inch and see what happens.
Not readable, indeed.
I don’t give up easily, so I tried only text.
Black on white.
Would that work?
Hahaaa… yes – on the screen it works.
What about printing this one in the right size.
See for yourself (click on the photo to enlarge)
Conclusion: if you put just a few words in black on white,
readable text CAN be printed on a square inch!
This offers prospects for the ones among you that don’t make art, but
would like to buy an ‘inchie’ and see their haiku in print on the back cover
of the magazine. How nice is that?
