What wakes you up in the morning?
Is it your bladder?
Is it the sun shining through the curtains?
Is it your child calling your name?
Is it the alarmclock?
Lately, these two ladies – sitting high on the neighbours’ roof – wake me up with their chitter.
I sip my coffee out on the balcony while watching these birds arrange their plumage – it’s a lovely way to start the day!

I submit today’s haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share haiku on this Friday event Haiku my Heart.
Now that the heat is finally gone from the Netherlands and temperatures are way more do-able, I spend more time in my atelier. Last week I created ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards) and there is also a prepared canvas waiting to start on, but art journaling is my niche. I create in all kinds of (self bound) books in varies sizes and sometimes a journal get neglected for a while but there’s one journal I return to every week: the Chronicles. It’s my visual diary and I create these weekly pages for the 9th year now. (You can see all the Chronicles journals and click through the pages on my website HERE.)

Some birds have melodious voices, and some have harsh voices. I welcome them all!

Miss the days when I was awakened by the kids. Thanks for reminding me of those treasured times.

Hello, my dear friend! Lots of things wake me. Dreams. Birds. Sometimes, a noisy motorcycle or car. That place of sun where I didn’t quite close the curtains, a single beam on my nose! And sometimes… cats fighting! My favorite wakings are the gentle ones where the sounds and light of the new day make me stretch and eager to start afresh. And now, I am sipping my coffee while your sun moves towards setting. Yes, those are my dancing feet! I will think of your purple painted toes when I dance this Sunday and wish you were with me! Love to you both!

I cannot think of a better sound to wake to than birdsong!
Magical Mystical Teacher says
What would we do without birdsong? Enjoy!
Lisa at Greenbow says
I live a quiet life. I just wake up. Perhaps the sun whispers to me.
I like your haiku.
I also like your idea of the weekend.
Cheers
