Good morning sweeties… another Wednesday and I bet you came by to see what’s on my work desk today. Well… my tools of course, but nothing creative that I work on. Days went by without being in the atelier and my desk shows that empty spot, ready to start a new page or project. Right in the middle though, is the envelope with happy mail I received from my mum yesterday. A beautiful card and a fun little notebook… I might use some of the pages to put in my ‘Chronicles’ journal.
So, when not in my atelier, what did I do then?
Housekeeping and cleaning! Yep… it was that time. We nearly sticked to the bathroom floor and the lid of the laundry basket would not even close anymore…
Was there any fun too? Oh yes!
Last Sunday was such a beautiful day that my beloved and I decided to take the bus to the next city (Vlissingen) and walk along the waterfront (in Dutch, we call the waterfront – the walking paths of the city that leads along the waterside – ‘boulevard’)
It was quite a stroll…
But we took it easy (like old people, ha!) and enjoyed seeing the big ships come in on their way to Antwerp and the pilot boats going to the ships to bring (or pick up) the pilots that guide the ships in and out of the river.
We walked to the end of the jetty, where the ‘wind organ’ is… A wind organ is a musical instrument designed to be ‘played’ by the wind. The organ in Vlissingen is made out of hollow bamboo rods that look like a flute, the rods ‘sing’ as the wind blows across their mouths. The organ did not sing as there nearly was any wind, but instead made a high buzzing sound.
I won’t get to spend much time in my atelier in the next days either… I plan to tidy and organize my wardrobe this afternoon and tomorrow my son and his girlfriend will come over to stay with us until Friday. I have lots of plans for new art journal pages though (a spread for my Chronicles journal, the new challenge at Documented Life) so I hope to spend the weekend at my work desk. In between, I hope to be able to visit some of the other artist’s desk, see you around!
The What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday event is hosted by Julia from the UK. Are you curious to see more photos of work desk from different artists? There’s a list with WOYWW-participants on Julia’s blog. Click the link and enjoy visiting our hostess and all sorts of artists’ desks around the world.
P.S. Some of you asked me last week to show my tiny art journal – you can find the photos in this post.

That must have been a heck of a walk Marit! I didn’t know the Netherlands had such an impressive shoreline! Wow! Thanks for sharing your desk – I’ll check out your mini journal! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #25

Thank you, Marit for the lovely walk that you shared with us! It was so nice to walk in the sunshine along the seashore, be warm and not trudge through snow! It’s nice to see ships and the tugs that bring them in and out. We lived in British Columbia (on the west coast of Canada) for a few years and were able to watch that happen there. We go to my brother’s house in summer on the St. Lawrence River, and we can watch the ships there too. You warmed my soul on yet another very cold winter day in Canada. Lots of good things happen on WOYWW. ๐ Don’t work too hard. Crafting is more fun….

House work now that is a dirty word and one I have been avoiding for a little while, ah it will have to get done soon. Love your post this week, it is so nice to hear about other places around the world and those windpipes must sound beautiful on a windy day. We have pilot boats that have to steer ships into the heads of our bay and it is fascinating to watch. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful week.
Happy WOYWW

Oh the mini journal turned out lovely. I was one who asked to see it closer last week ๐ That wind organ is very interesting. I have never seen such a thing although I have visiting several coasts..I wonder if we have one in the USA at all. Hmmm..sounds like a internet search. Happy creating when you get done with that nasty cleaning up! Shel-PaperOctilloStudio #42

Hi Marit! What a Tidy desk… you are good at organising all your stuff into their own places. In theory, my work area is organised, but stuff will keep creeping out of place… hmm…
I still love how you label the photo of your desk, to tell us all the important little details!
And I spent the morning cleaning – the downstairs and also the bathroom. Now I’m resting for a bit – tired…
Then I hope to get on a little, with the project that’s on my workdesk today!

Aiy that housework stuff is never done is it? Your desk looks tidy and poised for the next time you get to play. It looks as though you had a lovely outing, with nifty sights to see. Plus you got happy mail. That’s always a good thing. Judy #57

Zeeland is ver, haha! ๐ Fijne week!

I really enjoyed looking at the photos of your walk. Being a Rotterdam girl, large ships and their pilots have a special place in my heart. Now I’ve never heard of a wind organ. Sounds fascinating…. I’ll google that.
Have a great week,
God bless,
