Ohmy… last week was such a busy week but FUN it was… very fun! I worked hard on Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday to get the things done that I wanted to finish and then the nicest part of the week began: packing my bags! On Thursday I took the train to Eindhoven, the place where I lived for 30 years, to visit my friend and old neighbor Miriam. Boy, were we happy to see each other again!
It was kinda odd to stay over at her place, next to the house that was ‘mine’ for 13 years… to walk through the street that is so familiar still. To look out of Miriam’s window and see the almost exact view that I saw all those years, to sleep in a bed knowing that there was someone else sleeping on the other side of the wall in a room that used to be my son’s room (and my atelier) ….
Miriam and I talked and talked and relaxed but went to sleep on time because the next day we had planned a visit to the Craft Trade Show in Den Bosch. We both had not been to that show before and we were curious and excited to go there. There were a lot of stands selling all kinds of scrapbooking and card-making stuff. Also, part of the fair was filled with fabric, textile and needle stuff. We skipped those stands and went straight to the art journal and mixed media stands. At the end of the day, we both had a bag full! Here’s the catch…
I planned to travel back home on Friday evening, but there’d been a train accident on my route so that the ‘fast’ route (2 hours by train) back to Middelburg was blocked. I could have traveled the alternative route but that would mean I’d have to get in and out of trains (traveling half of the country *The Netherlands isn’t that big*) and wait on dark platforms late in the evening and I did not feel much for that. To the delight of my friend and her son, I decided to stay another night over and went home the next day (and it took me all afternoon!)
All in all, I had a great time (thanks Miriam, luv you!) but had no free time left last weekend/days to visit ‘woyww-deskers.’ I hope to make that up to you this week.
So here it is, for What’s On Your Work desk Wednesday – photos of how my desk looks this morning. You may spot some of the new bought tools and materials.
WOYWW #301 – desk to the left
WOYWW #301 – desk in front of the window
What’s On Your Work desk? Wednesday is hosted by Julia from the UK. Artists from all over the world post a photo of their desk on their blog and leave a link at Julia’s blog. More info about this event can be found here.
You probably saw my Chronicles art journal laying on the table… I’m a bit behind and am working on week 9. Luckily, I take short notes to memories what I did each day so it’s no problem to create the pages later. Here’s the latest spread that I created some time ago.
The Chronicles of Marit 2015 – Week 8
In week 8 my son and his girlfriend came over for a visit. I glued their photo onto the page.
Nout & Guus: isn’t it a beautiful couple?!
And that’s it for today folks… you all have a nice day, do something that makes you happy.
Walk in the sun.
Carve a stamp.
Visit an artist’s blog (facebook = overrated!)
Embrace a friend.
Enjoy.

Hi Marit.
What a lovely post and so lovely to put a face to the name at last. Love your photo with your friend. That must have been so weird visiting your old neighbourhood again but fun too to catch up with old friends.
My Mum still lives in my childhood home so I get to visit all the time without the strangeness of it belonging to someone else.
The show sounds great and you certainly got some great new stash. I had a gelli plate for Xmas two years ago but still haven’t explored it properly yet. I bet you put it to brilliant use.
Love the photo of your son and his girlfriend too, what a happy couple they look.

oh, what a wonderful visit with your friend! It looks like you took advantage of every second together!
Your art inspires as always, Marit. You are so devoted to it. I am envious of how you keep it such a priority. I know I need to work on that here. The extremely over rated Facebook has been sucking my social media time dry in many ways. I do miss the hey day of art blogs. It is always a treat to visit here!
I’d better get to work! Still have to carve a stamp to make my week complete! Let’s pretend the friend I embrace tightly and with love is you, ok ? ❤️
