There will be an inspiring quirky post up on this blog every Monday during the Dutch Summer.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Guest blogger: Jenny de Bode<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>I got to know Jenny de Bode 2012, when I discovered her &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/quataalenteken.blogspot.com\/2012\/09\/making-your-journal-rock.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stone folks<\/a>&#8216; on the Internet. I emailed her because I wanted to write an article for Featuring magazine about her art and right away it felt we&#8217;d always been friends. Jenny and I, we &#8216;click.&#8217; Ever since that day we email each other, we write each other, we call each other, we inspire each other, we collaborate on projects together and we gave workshops together. She developed courses and workshops in guided fantasy, creative writing, storytelling and language play. She teaches art journaling and creative writing (and loves to combine texts and images). She translated children\u2019s books, writes poetry and short stories, draws on stones and paints on paper and makes big big messes. She\u2019s convinced that creating makes us happy. Three scraps of paper that I thoughtlessly put down on some brown paper suddenly showed their hidden potential! Only a few extra lines were needed to transform them into three funny figures. When Marit invited me as a guest blogger for her Quirky Summer project I remembered the sheer joy of working with coincidental odd scraps of paper.. Now look among your torn pieces for useful forms for a body or legs. Resist the urge to grab a pair of scissors and cut out a skirt, a bra or a little coat. It\u2019s the irregular forms that you have ripped from the page that will stimulate your fantasy!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 3: Puzzle<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nUse only what\u2019s available but feel free to turn your torn pieces upside down to see if the other side is more interesting.<br \/>\nPuzzle with the pieces until your fantasy takes over and tells you what it\u2019s going to be. Take only what you can use and leave the rest.(watch out: don\u2019t throw anything away yet. Cherish your leftovers, they may be useful later on.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25841\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"616\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4-231x300.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 4: Draw and Decorate<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nFeel free to draw parts that aren\u2019t there to complete your image. (I added the hands!) An arm, a pair of shoes, part of a leg&#8230;hair. It is the combination of collage and your drawn parts that will make it special! Then take your fineliners and decorate as much as you like, add buttons, shoestrings, frills&#8230;whatever.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25842\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"421\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5.jpg 421w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5-158x300.jpg 158w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 5: Add text<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nYou\u2019ll probably end up with some quite hilarious figures and a funny text may add to that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25843\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6.jpg 478w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6-179x300.jpg 179w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Step 6: Make a border<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nLay the finished figure on a blank page of your art journal. Have you still enough snippets to make an irregularly ripped border around it? (If not grab a suitable new page.) There are various ways to make a border. See what appeals to you most and secure it with glue. Leave room to surround the border with text!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 7: Add handwriting<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nNow write around it! Use your sloppiest handwriting and write big! Your scrawly text will act as an extra border and the sloppier it looks the better! (It may be quirky, remember!) What to write? Just anything that comes to mind&#8230;I for example wrote &#8220;<em>It\u2019s so nice to fiddle about with scraps of paper and just see what wants to be created with them&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"676\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7.jpg 676w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7-254x300.jpg 254w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>And then what?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>Leftover scraps<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSo many pieces that I did not use. Oh&#8230;I had loads on my work top. Have you?<br \/>\nWatch them closely, you now know what these scraps may lead to&#8230;. Among mine there was a snippet showing two toes and the nails looked so much like eyes that I could not resist&#8230;.I drew eyelids on them and made them into a little face.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-8.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25845\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Fat lady<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nI arranged some of the left over scraps on a fresh piece of Kraft paper. There was a fat behind and two pieces that could be used as legs. And there she was, my fat little lady.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-9.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25846\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"522\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-9.jpg 522w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-9-196x300.jpg 196w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Sensible Shoes<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nAnd all that was left to be done was drawing a hand, a handbag (yes, here I took another scrap) and nice sensible shoes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-10.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25847\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"467\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-10.jpg 467w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-10-175x300.jpg 175w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Buttons and frills<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nDecorating her was the last thing to do: some buttons, curly hair and some fashionable frills at her ankles. I surprised myself by writing: &#8220;<em>And of course this is all about projection! Gedurende deze zomer zal er elke maandag een inspirerende, &#8216;Quirky post&#8217; worden gepubliceerd op mijn blog.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Gast blogger: Jenny de Bode<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Ik leerde Jenny de Bode kennen in 2012, toen ik online ergens haar &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/quataalenteken.blogspot.com\/2012\/09\/making-your-journal-rock.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gezichten in steen<\/a>&#8216; ontdekte en haar aanschreef omdat ik voor Featuring magazine een artikel over haar werk wilde schrijven. Jenny en ik, dat klikte meteen! Sindsdien emailen we, schrijven we, bellen we, inspireren we elkaar, werken we aan gezamenlijke projecten en we gaven ook al workshops samen. Ze ontwikkelt en geeft cursussen en workshops o.a. op het gebied van art journaling (= werken met een creatief dagboek), creativiteitsontwikkeling, creatief schrijven, creatieve denktechnieken, taalspel, geleide fantasie, verhalen vertellen en voorleestechnieken. Verder vertaalt Jenny kinderboeken, schrijft po\u00ebzie en korte verhalen, tekent op stenen, schildert op papier en maakt er een grote blije rommel van. Jenny is ervan overtuigd dat cre\u00ebren ons gelukkig maakt. Een zomer vol scheurmadammekes<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Soms komt iets vanzelf op je weg. Drie strips gescheurd papier die ik gedachteloos naast elkaar had gelegd op een grauwpapieren ondergrond lieten opeens verborgen mogelijkheden zien! Er waren maar een paar lijntjes nodig om ze te veranderen in deze drie grappige figuren. Toen Marit mij vroeg als gastblogger voor haar Quirky Dutch Summer moest ik meteen terugdenken aan het pure plezier van werken met toevallige vormen en daar dan je ding mee doen. Weersta vooral de neiging om de schaar te pakken en een broekje, behaatje of colbertje te knippen. Juist onregelmatige scheurvormen prikkelen de fantasie!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 3: Puzzel<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nMaak er een sport van om alleen te gebruiken wat er op je tafel ligt. Je hoeft niet alles te gebruiken, juist niet! Draai gerust je scheurstukjes om. Soms is de achterkant beter bruikbaar. (en let op: gooi nog niks weg! Koester je restjes, ze kunnen straks nog van pas komen!) Puzzel tot je fantasie het overneemt en je een idee krijgt van wat het zou kunnen worden.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25841\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"616\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-4-231x300.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 4: Teken en versier<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nTeken er gerust wat ontbrekende delen bij om het kompleet te maken, een stukje arm, een paar schoenen, haren&#8230; Het is juist de combinatie van collage en tekenwerk die het zo leuk maakt! Versier dan naar hartenlust en gebruik alleen zwarte en witte fineliners. Voeg knopen, veters, randjes en kantjes toe, wat je maar invalt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25842\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"421\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5.jpg 421w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-5-158x300.jpg 158w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 5: Voeg tekst toe<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nHet worden meestal tamelijk hilarische figuren en een tekstje erbij kan dat nadrukkelijk laten uitkomen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25843\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6.jpg 478w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-6-179x300.jpg 179w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Step 6: Cre\u00eber een rand<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nLeg je uitgewerkte scheurfiguurtje op een blanco pagina in je art journal en kijk of je nog genoeg snippers hebt om een liefst gescheurde rand om het ondergrondpapier te maken. (Zo niet, pak een nieuwe bijkleurende pagina) Een scheurrand kun je op verschillende manieren maken; kijk wat je aanspreekt en plak het vast. Laat genoeg ruimte om er tekst omheen te schrijven!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Step 7: Handgeschreven tekst<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSchrijf er nu omheen. Schrijf met je slordigste hanepoten en schrijf groot! Je tekst wordt een extra rand om je werkstuk en hoe hanepoteriger hoe beter. (Het mag \u2018quirky\u2019 zijn, weet je wel&#8230;) En WAT je dan moet schrijven? Alles wat er maar bij je op komt. Het hoeft niks literairs te zijn. Ik schreef: bijvoorbeeld &#8220;<em>Het is zo leuk om maar wat aan te rommelen met scheursels en gewoon te kijken wat er gemaakt wil worden&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"676\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7.jpg 676w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Jen-7-254x300.jpg 254w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>En nu&#8230;?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>Overgebleven scheursels<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nOngebruikte scheursels&#8230; er lagen er flink wat op mijn werktafel. Bij jou ook? Kijk eens goed&#8230; je weet nu waar die snippers toe kunnen leiden&#8230; Op een van mijn stukjes stonden twee tenen met keurig gelakte nageltjes. En toen ik er bij schreef verraste ik mezelf met de tekst \u201c<em>Natuurlijk is dit projectie!
