Every Friday I choose a photo from my friend Lena Schreijenberg‘s album to write a haiku. Today I fell for the photo that she took when she encountered a long row of cows while on her way from work to home. The long row, crossing the road, forced her to stop and wait until they all passed. Lena told me she had to wait for at least 15 minutes… how’s that for a Zen-moment?!

Friday haiku

In een lange rij
sjokken koeien lijdzaam naar
de volgende wei

Cows trudge in a row.
Docile, from one meadow to
the other meadow.

I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart.

Some time ago, someone pointed out the online workshop/free event Sketchbook Revival 2019 to me. The event was nearly over when I discovered it (today is the last day that the tutorials are accessible to participants) but I registered anyway because I wanted to see the lesson of Karen Stamper I watched her video and tried some of the techniques she showed in the tutorial. I glued some scrap pieces of paper onto a background, took out the ‘bister’ (pigment powder) and had fun making blobs and stains. Then I drew an urban skyline using a black marker.

This is not my way of making art AT ALL but I kinda like the outcome and I learned some things along the way: mission accomplished!

I made a card out of this sketch and send it to my mum for Mother’s day.

I might integrate some of these techniques into my own art journal work. I like how the underneath scraps of paper in combination with the ink trigger the imagination and makes you see all kinds of shapes: buildings, faces, animals… I might use brighter colours/ink next time though.

Thanks for stopping by today, have a nice weekend y’all!

Je t’embrasse.

Good morning lovely ones, it’s Friday and you know what that means don’t you?
