Today, my son is 19 years old!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Happy birthday dearest!<\/strong><\/p>\n

A memorial<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Sunday it was 40 years ago that Jim Morrison died (you know,
\nthe lead singer of the Doors). I made this ‘tribute’. It’s the first page
\nin my ‘album cover folded book’<\/p>\n

(30,5 x 30,5 cm - 12 x 12 inch)\r\n<\/pre>\n
The background is pattern scrapbook paper. The face is drawn with a black
\nmarker. I stamped the text and used distress embossing powder (Tim Holtz)
\nto make it stand out more. A little bit of distress ink (‘vintage photo’) around
\nthe edges finishes it.<\/p>\n
I don’t know if you can see it well (you can click the image to enlarge<\/em>)
\nbut I drew Jim’s face with raindrops (‘Faces come out of the rain…’)
\nHere’s a detail of his eyes<\/p>\n

Last week was all about the weather – tropical days followed by
\nthunderstorms – and ‘Le Tour de France<\/a>‘. (In fact, the next three
\nweeks will be all about the Tour! Watching ‘The Tour’ on TV is
\nsort of a ‘Summer ritual’.<\/p>\n

And last but not least – I made another index card.
\n<\/strong>I couldn’t let go of the mermaids yet… <\/strong><\/p>\n

The background is made with Adirondack color wash spray ink – Ranger
\n(‘Stream’ and ‘Denim’) and salt. The mermaid and shells are stamped and
\nembossed with glossy, black embossing powder. The ‘bubbles’ were made
\nwith a pearl pen.<\/p>\n
I’m known for being a lousy cook, but I’m going to hit the kitchen now
\nto bake my son’s birthday cake. The famous ‘Elvis pie’*
\nI baked it before and failed only once, so it’s do-able, even for me!
\nOne ‘problem’ though… the pie contains two cups of whipping cream,
\nat least 300 grams of sugar, bananas…<\/p>\n
