Good morning lovelies!
\nIs it Friday already?
\nOh yes, it is… time flies!<\/p>\n

You all know what to expect on Friday don’t you?<\/p>\n

Haiku my heart!<\/p>\n

But there’s more in this post,
\nI also have an art journal page to show.<\/p>\n

I based my first haiku (yes, I have two haiku’s to share) on a ‘weird’ photo.
\nI’ll tell you how I came to that…<\/p>\n

Months ago, I bought old magazines on a flee market, to use the images
\nfor collage. I flipped through them several times now, and every time
\nI came across this photo, I stopped and wondered. I keep on asking myself:
\nwhat is it that makes me stop and look at it over and over again?
\nDo I like this photo?<\/p>\n

It is both repellent (to me, it evokes images of fear and pain) and magnificent
\n(it is a beautiful,\u00a0 aesthetic photo made by a professional photographer.)<\/p>\n

When I saw the photo again last week, and wondered what it was what made
\nme stop and look at it for the umpteenth time, I decided to finally cut out
\nthis ‘weird’\u00a0 photo and use it!<\/p>\n

Here’s the index card I made with the image \u00e1nd a haiku.<\/p>\n

I’d just finished the ‘weird card’ when I heard about Amy Winehouse’s
\ndeath. I wasn’t a big fan or anything, but ofcourse I knew her hit-songs
\n– ‘Valerie’ and ‘Rehab’ – and I liked her voice. We all know how she was
\npictured in the news and in magazines, and since I don’t live in a cave,
\nI heard those stories too. The news about her death made me write
\na haiku and I created a similar index card to go with the ‘weird one’…<\/p>\n

Now that the Tour de France has come to an end, I can use my spare time
\non art journaling again! Watching the Tour was big fun, but after spending
\nthree weeks in front of the TV screen, I enjoyed dipping my hands into
\npaint and ink again last week and work on a bigger ‘miscellaneous’ page.
\nI really missed it! Here is the first result!<\/p>\n

(Miscellaneous big art journal: 25 x 35 cm - 9.8 x 13.8 inch)\r\n<\/pre>\n
The background is gessoed first. I put a blue layer over it with acrylic paint.
\nSpray ink (Adirondack – butterscotch) over a ‘dotted template’ (it’s more a
\npiece of plastic ‘ribbon’ with holes in it. I don’t know what it was made for
\nbut I use it as a template) Cut-out images from a magazine. The border is
\nalso made with cut out pieces. I coloured the ‘astonished boy stamp’ (head)
\nwith Copic markers. Black and yellow sharpies for doodling, brown ‘Painter
\nmarker’ (thanks again Julie<\/a>!) for the lines around the Sumo wrestler and last
\nbut not least, some journaling.<\/p>\n
For the noisy ones among you (Hi Terri \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 ) here’s the translation:<\/p>\n
‘Sumo wrestlers, pigeon breast, as thin as a rail or as fat as a pig…
\nwhere do I stand in line somewhere? Pretty much in the middle
\nI think. 132 lb is not too bad. I’m satisfied.’<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
This weekend, I will be working on some more art journal pages and
\na sneak peek for the ‘Live by the Sea<\/a>‘ workshop. Also, I have some
\nannouncements coming in the near future.
\nSmall plans will be executed and it seems my ideas are turning into
\nbig things that are starting to come together… curious now?
