Hi there friends! How was your weekend? Mine was cold, stormy and rainy
\n(Outside that is. Inside the house I made it comfortable and put all kinds of
\nstuff on the big table… paint, glue, brushes – you get the idea. The result is
\nat the end of this post.) It feels like Summer is coming to an end while I didn’t
\neven see the sun… we experienced only a few sunny days – just to remind me
\nhow it feels to wear a skirt – and then temperatures dropped again.<\/p>\n

With August on the calendar, and light getting shorter in the evenings, it sure
\nfeels like fall now! I decided to turn the ‘bad’ into ‘good’ and made plans for the
\nupcoming season then!<\/p>\n

For me, some great things are in the pipeline – including teaching a long,
\nluxurious live workshop-weekend\u00a0 in November – and then there’s also
\nsomething fantastic bubbling and growing, which I can’t say anything about
\nyet…\u00a0 but it’s starting to come together and getting real!
\nEeeckk… I hope to reveal it soon!<\/p>\n

All in all, I had no time to also create a new online workshop for this Fall,
\nso I decided to offer two existing (and popular) online workshops again.<\/p>\n

The online workshops that will start in September are:<\/p>\n

Let it Loose<\/strong> (September 12 – October 20; 2011)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This workshop will loosen you up and take you
\na step further in creating your own, unique art
\njournal pages. You\u2019ll learn some basic writing
\ntechniques to improve your journaling and you
\nwill get tips and techniques to use your own
\nhandwriting (You dislike your own handwriting?
\nYou might be surprised what you can do with it!)
\nFurthermore, you will learn art techniques like
\nworking with collages, paint, colours, gesso and
\ngel medium.<\/p>\n

A Creative Art Journey<\/strong> (September 13 – October 21; 2011)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you love art journaling and are eager to learn some
\nart history along the way, this is the workshop for you!
\nIn 12 lessons you will be introduced to 12 different art
\nperiods in time. Each lesson concentrates on a specific
\nart period, handling the characteristics and showing
\nthe artists and highlights. Every lesson comes with
\nmultiple prompts – inspired by the specific period\/art –
\nfrom which you can choose which one suites you best.
\nYou will learn about Ancient art, Renaissance,
\nImpressionism, Cubism and others.<\/p>\n

And then there are still some places available for live Workshop by the sea<\/strong><\/p>\n

November 4 to 7, 2011 (National \/ Dutch)
\nNovember 11 to 14, 2011 (International \/ Bilingual:
\nDutch-English)<\/p>\n

This weekend will take place on the inspiring peninsula
\nof Walcheren (Province of Zeeland) in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Besides binding your own book\/art journal, working
\nwith different techniques to create backgrounds and
\na haiku workshop (provided by the writer\/poet
\n Johanna Kruit<\/a>), I will also teach you how to create
\nan ingeniously folded booklet.<\/p>\n

Last weekend, I made such a folded booklet to use as an example in the
\nworkshop. Here’s a sneak peek.<\/p>\n

The Chronicles of Marit 2011 – Week 31<\/strong><\/p>\n

(30 x 21 cm - 11.8 x 8.3 inch)<\/pre>\n
The background is gessoed. After that, I added acrylic paint and spray ink.
\nThe ‘bubbles’ are made with paint and a sequin waste (template). The photo
\nis a cut-out from a magazine. Tiny alphabet stickers (October Afternoon)
\nused for ‘week’ and ‘month’ and journaling\/doodling with sharpies.<\/p>\n
