‘Ring ring….’ –\u00a0 ‘ring ring….’<\/p>\n

M: ‘Yes, who am I speaking to?’<\/p>\n

R: ‘Hi sissy, it’s your brother here’<\/p>\n

M: ‘Aaah, hi bro! How are things in Canada?’<\/p>\n

R: ‘We’re alright, but what I’m calling for: I want to thank you!’<\/p>\n

M: ‘???? Thank me? For what?’<\/p>\n

R: ‘For that piece on your blog the other day, the Pink Floyd page.
\nThat song, and especially that line is one of my faves. I was really
\nmoved by your artwork.’<\/p>\n

M: ‘That’s the nicest compliment someone ever gave me!
\n– Thank YOU brother!’<\/p>\n

(A few weeks after this conversation it was my brother’s birthday. The piece
\nhe was talking about was a page in my ‘album cover’ journal that I didn’t
\nwant to tear out, but I made him a similar art piece on a cardboard panel.
\nHe received it last week, so I can show it to you now.)<\/em><\/p>\n

I put the two pieces next to each other, so you can compare them.<\/p>\n

They are very similar, but I like the one on the right (that I send to my
\nbrother) the most! The colours and composition are more balanced, the
\nletters stand out more and the statue looks better on this piece than the
\nbigger head sculpture on the left… What do you think?<\/p>\n
My thoughts last week were dominated by the imminent move of my son,
\nso I pictured him with wings on my weekly page…<\/p>\n

(23 x 31 cm - 9.1 x 12.2 inch)\r\n\r\n(I transferred a photo of him onto the page, but it came out blur.\r\nI outlined the image with a black marker and coloured his clothes\r\nwith Caran D'Ache crayons. It's hard to capture his expression with\r\njust one or two lines, so his face came out a bit 'weird'. To me it\r\nstill looks like my son though!)<\/pre>\n
Now that a lot of work has been done and deadlines been met, I relaxed
\nyesterday by flipping through my stack of ‘National Geographics’.
\nTrying to find the creative flow I dearly missed in the last couple of weeks
\n– but trying not to force things – I decided to start easy. I cut out several
\nphotos that pictured ‘earth’ and made this page in my grid journal.<\/p>\n

I have some inspiring ideas to work on this week, but I don’t know if I
\nget it all done. I plan to just take it easy and see what this week will bring.
