{"id":4231,"date":"2011-11-15T16:46:18","date_gmt":"2011-11-15T15:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/?p=4231"},"modified":"2013-02-03T15:03:45","modified_gmt":"2013-02-03T14:03:45","slug":"workshop-by-the-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/workshop-by-the-sea\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop by the Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes things don&#8217;t go quite the way you thought they would, but by<br \/>\ngiving it a twist and turning it around you can make them into something<br \/>\neven better then you planned in the first place&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A disappointing number of three (yes, 3!) people registered for the<br \/>\n&#8216;workshop by the sea&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>As the date approached &#8211; and no new registrations were added &#8211; I had to<br \/>\nmake a decision: cancel the workshop weekend or &#8211; despite the small group &#8211;<br \/>\ngo for it and transform the weekend into something even more creative&#8230;<br \/>\nI choose the latter.<\/p>\n<p>I informed the women about it and one lady withdrew, but the other two<br \/>\ngot all enthusiastic when they heard it would be a more intimate weekend.<br \/>\nAfter all, with such a small &#8216;group&#8217; they would have the opportunity to learn<br \/>\nmore complicated techniques.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop weekend finally came.<br \/>\nI met <a href=\"http:\/\/elvy-tales.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Elvy<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/margotzwegers.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Margot<\/a> &#8211; two friends that were my &#8216;students&#8217; last weekend<br \/>\n&#8211; and we had a blast!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/workshop-by-the-sea.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4233\" title=\"workshop-by-the-sea\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/workshop-by-the-sea-300x259.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/workshop-by-the-sea-300x259.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/workshop-by-the-sea.jpg 577w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We made a small book with a &#8216;secret folded spine&#8217; (similar to the one I show<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/?p=2766\" target=\"_blank\">in the video in this post<\/a>), we carved stamps, the poet Johanna Kruit taught<br \/>\na haiku workshop, we did some more bookbinding, we transferred magazine<br \/>\nimages, we worked on different art journal pages and ofcourse we went for<br \/>\na long walk on the dunes and beach.<\/p>\n<p>This photo impression tells it all<br \/>\n(photos taken by me, Johanna, Elvy and Margot)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/fotostrips.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4261\" title=\"fotostrips\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/fotostrips.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"918\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/fotostrips.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/fotostrips-163x300.jpg 163w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a book I made to show Elvy and Margot how to bind the pages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/wbts-00-cover.jpg\"><img wpfc-lazyload-disable=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4234\" title=\"wbts-00-cover\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/wbts-00-cover.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"855\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/wbts-00-cover.jpg 855w, https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/wbts-00-cover-285x300.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 855px) 100vw, 855px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<pre>(Size: 13 x 17 cm - 5.12 x 6.7 inch)<\/pre>\n<p>The pages in this book are alternately made out of blank paper and<br \/>\nscrapbook paper.
