Sometimes things don’t go quite the way you thought they would, but by
\ngiving it a twist and turning it around you can make them into something
\neven better then you planned in the first place…<\/p>\n

A disappointing number of three (yes, 3!) people registered for the
\n‘workshop by the sea’.<\/p>\n

As the date approached – and no new registrations were added – I had to
\nmake a decision: cancel the workshop weekend or – despite the small group –
\ngo for it and transform the weekend into something even more creative…
\nI choose the latter.<\/p>\n

I informed the women about it and one lady withdrew, but the other two
\ngot all enthusiastic when they heard it would be a more intimate weekend.
\nAfter all, with such a small ‘group’ they would have the opportunity to learn
\nmore complicated techniques.<\/p>\n

The workshop weekend finally came.
\nI met Elvy<\/a> and Margot<\/a> – two friends that were my ‘students’ last weekend
\n– and we had a blast!<\/p>\n

We made a small book with a ‘secret folded spine’ (similar to the one I show
\nin the video in this post<\/a>), we carved stamps, the poet Johanna Kruit taught
\na haiku workshop, we did some more bookbinding, we transferred magazine
\nimages, we worked on different art journal pages and ofcourse we went for
\na long walk on the dunes and beach.<\/p>\n

Here’s a book I made to show Elvy and Margot how to bind the pages.<\/p>\n

The pages in this book are alternately made out of blank paper and
\nscrapbook paper. Margot had brought some acrylic paint in marvelous
\ncolours with her, and I tried all the colours in different combinations
\non the blank pages.<\/p>\n

It turned out to be one happy, colourful book!
\nIt will be so much fun working in it!<\/p>\n
I didn’t manage to work on my ‘chronicles page’ in the weekend…
\nso I made this spread today! (that’s why I’m blogging late)<\/p>\n
