Most of you – especially the ‘diehard scrapbookers’ – know Ali Edwards<\/a>
\nand her annual ‘One Little Word’ project. Instead of making a resolution
\nlist at the end of the year, the idea is to choose a word that will guide you
\nand motivate you throughout the year. It sounds a bit silly maybe, that
\none little word can help you all through the year, but I learned it sure does!<\/p>\n

The first year I started with this OLW tradition (2010) I choose the word
\nSMILE, because my life was in a dip and I was rapidly heading towards
\nbecoming a grumpy lady. The word stayed with me all year and made me
\nfocus on the good things in life. Even my artwork became brighter and more
\ncolourful.<\/p>\n

For 2011 my word was AWARENESS

The word AWARENESS has been on my mind a lot lately. Although it was
\nthere all year long in the back of my head, last months I seemed to really
\nNEEDED it! I faced some major changes, both in my personal life (my son
\nmoving out) as well as business-wise (teaching a live workshop, starting up
\nFEATURING<\/a> – my own magazine) This word kept me sharp. I often said it
\nto myself: ‘are you truly aware?’ It helped me look further, taking into account
\neveryone’s emotions, showed alternative ways to go and possibilities and
\nmade me alert to oversee the consequences of different approaches.
\nWow, it’s a powerful word!<\/p>\n

Last week, out of the blue, my new word for next year arose.
\nIt’s early, I know, it’s not even December yet! It probably has to do with
\nmy new goals for next year.<\/p>\n

The due date for the FEATURING team submissions was last week and I had
\nto make choices. Which people fit the team? It’s never easy to make a choice
\nand that’s when this word popped up: CORE.<\/p>\n

I have to stay close to my core. My wishes, my dreams – what I want this
\nmagazine to be – are the most important thing and I choose people for the
\nteam who I truly feel are capable of helping with that. Reading their resume
\nand the test-article they wrote, it felt like they had the same vision and view.
\nMy feelings were confirmed by Annemarie<\/a>, who agreed months ago to be my
\ntext editor and is helping me with the magazine ever since. Annemarie had
\nchosen the exact same names and had the same ideas about the content of
\nall the submissions we got! AWARENESS and CORE worked together on this!<\/p>\n

Oh, and don’t worry… the new members are informed and the names will soon
\nbe announced on the FEATURING website…<\/p>\n

That’s a lot of text I wrote there… hm, time for a picture then.
