We experience yet another cold (very cold – for Dutchies) day!
\nMy beloved and I were having trouble with it all weekend. The drain pipe
\nfrom the heating boiler and washing machine is but small, and the part
\nthat is outside is frozen. Not able to do the laundry isn’t a problem (if
\nnecessary, I can go to the neighbours and do my laundry there) but the
\nheating boiler drips its condensation water into the pipe and is making
\nthe block of ice that is in the pipe thicker and thicker while the rest of
\nthe water overflows in our bathroom.<\/p>\n

..<\/p>\n

We tried heating the part of the pipe outside with my heat tool
\n(haha.. I hardly use that thing but now it comes in handy!) –
\nthe pipe even got brown spots from the heater but the ice didn’t
\nmelt enough.<\/p>\n

We put an electric heater in front of the pipe.
\nNope.<\/p>\n

We got the garden hose out and tried to spray warm water in the pipe
\n(this all has to be done outside, at the end of the pipe that comes out
\nin a floor drain\/hole in a corner of our small garden).
\nNo results either.<\/p>\n

My beloved and I made the deal that we would not (NOT) snap at
\neach other or fight, and that we would keep on smiling… we are not
\nvery handy with these things so we gave my dad a call a few times a
\nday – he gave us advise, set things in perspective, made jokes and
\nkept us sane! And you know…. my beloved and I even had a good laugh
\nand fun together while doing this all – but still… no results.<\/p>\n

The ice is still there – maybe a bit less and somewhat thinner then before
\nbut still there in the pipe. Aaargggh.<\/p>\n

After three afternoons of hard work in the freezing cold and snow,
\nwe gave up.
\nWe will deal with it.
\nWe will drain the water out of the pipes in the bathroom every now
\nand then and we will wait for the temperatures to rise.
\nThat should not happen for another week though.
\nThe forcast predicts even more cold.
\nMore frost.
\nMore ice.
\nLow temperatures.
\nThere might even be an ‘Elfstedentocht’ early next week…<\/p>\n

Anyway, enough with the moaning….

\nmy son is a talented photographer!<\/p>\n
He bought a ‘portrait lens for his camera the other day and
\nwhen we visited my parents he brought his camera.
\nHe took some marvelous pictures of us all.<\/p>\n

\nI get cold even looking at this page!<\/p>\n
I will go make me a pot of tea then and maybe get
\nthe paint and markers out of the drawers this afternoon.
\nThe heat tool is still downstairs too, do you think I can do
\nsomething crafty with it for a change? Maybe I will!<\/p>\n
