The latest post of my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maritspaperworld.com\/blog\/?cat=458\" target=\"_blank\">Quirky Dutch Summer event<\/a> handled<br \/>\n&#8216;mail art, and some participants asked me for my address so they could<br \/>\nsend their art to me. It retired<\/p>\n<p>with a thunderstorm.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>For you who read both haiku\/languages &#8211; yes, I replaced the English &#8216;rain&#8217;<br \/>\nfor &#8216;wind&#8217; in the Dutch version. I like rain better, but in Dutch it is &#8216;regen&#8217; &#8211;<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s two syllables instead of one. It&#8217;s quite a puzzle every Friday to write<br \/>\nhaiku in two languages saying more or less the same in each. Sometimes I<br \/>\nlike the Dutch version better, and sometimes &#8211; like now, for instance &#8211; the<br \/>\nEnglish one is the best.<\/p>\n<p>I do like this &#8216;play with words&#8217; every Friday though &#8211; and I&#8217;m always happy<br \/>\nto publish it for \u2018Haiku my Heart Friday&#8217;. <em>Haiku my Heart<\/em> is hosted by the<br \/>\nwonderful Rebecca who gathers haiku lovers around her every Friday.<br \/>\nYou can find the list with all participants <a href=\"http:\/\/corazon.typepad.com\/recuerda_mi_corazon\/2012\/06\/happy-birthday-haiku-my-heart.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> on Recuarda Mi Corazon.<\/p>\n<p>Today is extra special because <em>Haiku my Heart<\/em> celebrates its second birthday!<br \/>\nThank you Rebecca, for starting and hosting this Friday event that brings<br \/>\ntogether so many haiku lovers. (We watch this television programme almost every<br \/>\nday.) I didn&#8217;t draw the portrait myself, it is a caricature that was published<br \/>\nin a newspaper. I glued it on the background &#8211; along with other newspaper<br \/>\narticles about soccer &#8211; and put gesso on top. I used black markers to get his<br \/>\nfeatures back on the page.<\/p>\n<p>(Oh, and for you foreigners who don&#8217;t follow the European Champi0nship<br \/>\nsoccer &#8211; Holland was kicked out after the first round. The Dutch team lost.<br \/>\nTHREE TIMES! They played bad. In fact, I&#8217;ve never seen them play th\u00e1t bad.<br \/>\nThey deserved to get out. Bye bye &#8216;Orange fever&#8217;.
