It was late.
\nWay past midnight.
\nMy beloved and I were still downstairs.
\nWe sat on the couch and talked.
\nWe know each other for 15 years and
\nwe still can talk all night.
\nAbout anything and
\nnothing.<\/p>\n

The door to the garden was open.
\nA sultry Summer night.
\nSuddenly, we heard a strange sound…<\/p>\n

Haiku my Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Een roep in de nacht.<\/p>\n

Een kerk uil in Eindhoven<\/p>\n

of het buurmeisje?<\/td>\n

<\/td>\nStrange sounds in the night.<\/p>\n

A screech-owl in Eindhoven<\/p>\n

or the girl next door?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

I am still not sure what we heard, but it was definitely not the next door’s
\nbaby crying… I know that sound all to well. I like to think it was an owl indeed.<\/p>\n

To all my haiku friends: the forecast predicts tropical temperatures
\nthis weekend so I probably won’t be able to visit you all.
\nI’ll shut down the computer and stay down stairs where it is cooler.
\nI hope to catch up with you next week (if it cools down.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Tic Toc<\/strong><\/p>\n

In March I made a collage in my big art journal (25 x 35 cm – 9.8 x 13.8 inch)
\nI did not like it at all, and over the last months I re-worked the image
\nin several ways. I thought it might be fun to see the process and how
\nthe piece evolved so I made photos along the way…
\nI finally call the page finished now.
\nIt still isn’t a very good art piece, but I like it a lot more
\nthan the original collage.<\/p>\n

  1. The original collage. Dull. Common. Stodgy.<\/li>\n
  2. Gesso and paint over it. Layers. Inky lines.
    \nBetter, but the faces and lines are childish and too explicit.<\/li>\n
  3. The wiped out ink lines leave a mess.
    \nBlaahh, the piece looks dirty now.
    \nIt looks a bit like shadows though.<\/li>\n
  4. I resort to an old, proved and loved method: write!
    \nI write text that serve as shadows.
    \nIt still isn’t the best piece I’ve ever made but its OK.
    \nI call it finished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Chronicles of Marit 2012 – Week 32<\/strong><\/p>\n

    I am searching for new ways to work in my Chronicles.
    \nI want to move away from the ‘calendar-like’ spreads I used to make.<\/p>\n

    More in general: I’m exploring new paths in my art.
    \nIt is an exiting and sometimes troubling path with blocks
    \nand holes in the road, but I’m moving forward.
    \nSlowly and steadily.<\/p>\n
