Why I am who I am…

This is going to be a somewhat different post.
It depends on you if you will notice the importance of it.

You can look at it as just a post – a long post – and if you don’t feel like reading
you just look at the layout I made for These are a Few of my Favorite Things.
(The challenge was to scrap your favorite band) If you do that, you probably
“scan” the large amount of text that follows to see if your eye catches another
important word  (which I don’t think will be the case) – then go to the comment
section and type some nice words about what I made.
You can do that. I have no problem with that.

But this layout that I’m about to show you tells a whole story about me.
There’s a lot of emotion in there and there’s a lot of growing up that you won’t
be able to see if you don’t read the words that I wrote to go with it.
So if you want to know me just a little bit better, deeper…
I recommend you take your time to read this post.
Even listen to the music.
Watch the bands.
Bands you know,
bands you don’t know.

I’m going to explain where it all came from.
I will lift a corner of the veil.
MY veil.
This is how I grew up.
This is part of why I became who I am today.

Orange boots
(Freewheelin’ Friday #25)

The weather forecast was right… it’s beautiful sunny weather here in
the Netherlands! It lightens my mood… but that’s not all!
I’m almost done with all the “musts” – I think I need another week
of hard work and then I can breath a little more AND visit all your blogs!!!
I also have some plans this Summer – and thát lightens my mood too!!!
(I tell you more in this post so keep reading…)

Because of the nice weather and because I love These are a few of my
favorite things
(they celebrate their one year anniversary!!!) I took some
“me-time” and created a layout for the challenge:

What are your favorite shoes?

Freewheelin’ Friday (#19)

Does your layout ever fail?

Just curious… ’cause although I have “better” and “worse” layouts,
I almost never feel my layout failed completely –
but this week, I did!!!

I promised you a page for my Leonard Cohen art journal (I was half way
when I said that) but…. the page failed miserably!

It was too bad to show, really… so I TORE IT APART!

And look what happened…

Freewheelin’ Friday (#12)

I like this “writing a blog post on Friday” ritual (#12 already!) in which I
show you some random art, share my thoughts, show you things I did the
days before or just ramble a bit before the weekend starts.
Today it’s all about my own work.

(count down and…)
TAKE OFF!

The count down to this new year was FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
It took me a few days to recover from the “top 2000 musical week” we experienced on my blog – but now I’m back in bussiness and ready to roll…

So here we go!!!

The challenge over at t.a.a.f.o.m.f.t. (by the way, I won the December
challenge with this layout – YEAH!!!) is:

“find your favourite layout/project that you made last year”

I went through my galleries and BOY, this is the hardest challenge EVA!
I made an awful lot – layouts, art journal pages, projects – and I managed to narrow my faves down to a few, but then I got stuck.

While searchin through my galleries, I got curious what others would choose and I asked my loved ones to take a look and tell me what their favourites are… and that was kinda surprising!
(They all named 3 layouts, but I will show you only one fave of each…
otherwise it would be too much!)

Take a look at the choices of my loved ones…

I rather trust my feet

Hi there blog friends!!!
I have something to say to you…
Call me sentimental (oh well, it’s nearly Christmas and all) but I want
to tell you how much I love you all! You made me so happy with your
sweet words and positive reactions on my new website and workshop!

Also a lot of you are so sweet to follow my “top 2000 project” and even play
along! (I’ve got two layouts from Michelle already… she blew me off my chair –
so be prepared for some eye candy in the next days!)

And here’s a layout for you! Not a music one (that starts tomorrow…)
but something I made last weekend. Some other posts got in the way
so I didn’t show it yet. It is for t.a.a.f.o.m.f.t. and the challenge was
“what is your favorite car?”

Freewheelin’ Friday (#2)

Gooooooooddddd moooooornniiiiiinnnnnnnnngggg!
(Ha! Just wanted to do that once!)

Friday… weekend’s just around the corner and the holiday season’s begun.
Well, here in my street it is. Our neighbours across the street sprayed
(fake) snow on their windows – all kinds of Christmas bells and stars.
They draped little lights all around the window, and outside in their small
garden they put lights in the even smaller bushes.
Compared to you, Americans, this is nothing but for Dutch standards,
it’s quite exuberant.

As you maybe know, I don’t decorate much with Christmas.
Maybe a few extra candles (I happen to have them in the house all year!
I love candles!) So hooray for the neighbours!
If I start to long for Christmas lights, I just look out my windows.
And if I’m sick of it, I close the shutters. Easy peasy!

Where was I going by telling you this… ? Oh, yes, the holidays.
I started talking about it ’cause the challenge at “These Are A Few
Of My Favorite Things
” was to scrap about your favourite holiday.
I (DON’T) have one…

There are a few
days in the year,
related to holidays,
on which I feel
like the girl
in this image.
(uuhm, yes, it’s
MY face in there –
sort of anyway)
and those days
are about to start!

(read further, ’cause there’s an announcement at the end of this post!)
