It’s a grey day over in the Netherlands and the rain comes pouring down…
but it doesn’t bother me much. I feel fine!
After four weeks of “Letting it Loose in my Workshop” the ladies in the
group are still very enthusiastic and it warms my heart and makes me happy!
Because of the shout outs on all their blogs, I got several others asking for this
workshop and so I’m glad to inform you that
the online workshop “Let it Loose” will start again on May 3 and a
new online workshop “A Creative Art Journey” will start on May 7.
Registration is now open and you can find all info in the shop on my website.
I finally finished the art journal page for “A Year in the Life of an Art Journal”
last week. Remember the gel medium transfer of the ultrasound photo of
my son which I transferred onto cloth? I used it!

Last week, I discovered “zentangling” (see former post) and I’ve been playing
with it all weekend. Man – I’m hooked! I made 4 ATC’s this weekend and I also
started a mini-journal to be filled with zentangled pages. I’m having a blast!
I’m also happy that I can do this in the evening. I stopped working on art
journals or scrappages at night because of the bad (yellow) lamps we have.
I mean, the lights we have in the evening are nice and cozy but not suitable to
work with colours. The pages always look different the next day so I stopped
working in my art journal in the evening (at least if there’s colour involved)
But these zentanglings are done with a black pen on white (or creme) so in
the evenings I zentangle away! It’s such a relaxing thing to do…

Today is all about bits and pieces because that’s what I found when I came
out of bed this morning!
This is what my window-sill looked like!
Little bits and pieces of projects I started yesterday.

In the “One Year in the Life of an Art Journal” group I came across a page
Denise made, and she’d used a technique called “gel medium transfers”.
It is a way to use gel medium to copy a photo onto your page and it had
my attention right away! So I googled it to find out how it works.
I found this tutorial about that technique, and I spend the rest of the
afternoon playing with it. In fact, I spend the rest of the weekend trying
to get it done ’cause my first attempt failed miserably!
I had to cover the ruined page with gesso and start all over as I was
determined to get at least one photo transferred.
Here’s a detail of the final page… just to show you what marvelous
textures I found on my page when I was done.
The transferring thing needs practising, but I managed
to get a photo on my page…

I’m hooked!
I’m hooked on art journaling and ever since Glenda mentioned the online
store “VivaLasVegaStamps” I’m hooked on that too!
Look what came in the mail this week…
After I ordered these stamps, they arrived within a week!
All the way from Vegas! Now THAT’S some service! Wohwee!!!
It’s that I’m on a budget, otherwise I’d buy more, and more, and more of these
beauty’s! I spend quite some time on their site, drooling over all the gorgeous
stamps, giggling over some text-stamps (“Elvis is dead and I’m not feeling
too good myself”) and narrowing down my “first choice” in stamps to a
reasonable amount (my first choice would have cost me $180)
I’m totally in love with the “running lady” (the big stamp on the left) and she
reminds me of my friend Lenny!!! Aaaah, dear Lenny (bonjour ma belle!)

Yesterday I changed form Internet Explorer to Fire Fox, and I noticed right
away that my blogposts didn’t look the way they were supposed to look…
Of course I was aware of the problems with layouts that stagger on
different browsers (*sigh* each web designer knows this) but I’m not the
“expert in da house” and when it came to problems like that in the past,
I usually yelled “Help!” and than the expert came running and helped me
out every time.
But now that I notice my OWN blogposts go jump up and down, and shows
text on places I don’t want to have it – I’m afraid I will have to give in
to something I kept away for such a long time…
I will have to learn more html-code myself!
As if I have nothing else on my mind right now…
But I will learn it. I promise. The expert will teach me. My private teacher.
And I will practise. I will. I promise.
I want to learn at least enough code to give my blogposts the look I want it
to have on EVERY computer. Until then, no text next to the pics anymore.
Sorry for those who were used to that, and hooray for those who used Fire Fox
all along and always looked at the strangest things on my blog – and puzzled
over which words belonged to which photo.
Having that said, let’s move on to something more fun, shall we?
