Freewheelin’ Saturday!
Sorry for the delay and thanks for waiting my friends!
I was really busy writing articles yesterday and didn’t have time
to work on a page that lay waiting to finish or write a blogpost…
But here I am!
I finished the page this morning, and then there’s something else
I want you to show (yes, it’s dry by now 😉 )

I started my first art journal in April 2009 and some of you may
remember this? It is the cover of that “Leonard Cohen Art Journal”.
I made pages all through
that year based on his
song lyrics. I didn’t bind
the pages ’cause I had the
intention to add one more
page using a particular song
(“Anthem”) but I couldn’t find
the right image to go with it.
I also had a strange kind of
superstition to make that page.
In August 2009 I said this
about it: “…there’s something
strange, something weird,
something very scary to it…
’cause somehow I have the
feeling that when I finish this
journal, Leonard will die…”
..
Last week I decided to NOT make that last page and I bound the pages.
Why? Well, for one: I think my style of art journaling changed too much
since I worked on a Leonard Cohen page. A new page would never “fit in”
with the older ones. And then there’s Leonard, who still lives.
I just refuse to make a last page and cause his death.
I saved him a few extra years last week! 😀

Another page for A Year in the Life of an Art Journal.
I see only now that I worked on the wrong assignment…
I accidentally skipped a word!
Oh well, I’ll save that word (“Light”) for the next time.
So I used the word “Slow” and you also had to use spirals
on the page. My puddles are sort of spirals I guess…
I also made this page with the challenge of Scrapping the Music in mind.
The song this week is “No Rain” by Blind Melon.
We had a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of rain here in the last days,
so the sentence from the lyrics “watching the puddles gather rain”
spoke to me! I love to stare out the window when it rains, it’s almost
meditative – “slowing down” it is!
I made this on aquarel paper and the technique is one that Michelle
had a lesson about in the workshop “Mixed Emotions”.
I drew with oil crayons and painted it with water colour paint afterwards.
This “resist technique” fitted the theme well!

Last week, I got a request from Bernice…
she asked if the workshop “A Creative Journey” would run
anytime soon. I had no plans for that but thinking about it,
it would be fun to run this workshop again in January/ February!
I decided to do just that if there are enough people who wants
to take this class. Info about it can be found here.

made with the lessons in the Public Gallery.
Soooo….
If you are interested and would like to take this class in January/February,
please send me an email and I will put you on the list.
As soon as there are over 7 interested in this class, the button in the shop
will be activated and registration will be open. With enough participants,
I will pick a date in January/February to start.

Jij druk met schrijven voor CMF, ik druk met scrappen!! Er komt binnenkort weer een doos van mij jouw kant op, bereid je maar vast voor ;-)!!
Je boek is gaaf geworden, zeg!!

voelt goed hè, een project afronden!
‘light’ is erg toepasselijk voor Eindhoven 😉 Zeker deze afgelopen week!
Je regenpagina is mooi! Ik zou ook weer vaker moeten tekenen, maar kan me bij het tekenen nog niet over de angst ‘to mess it up’ heenzetten!
Hier was het droog vandaag!

EEEK!!! I love what you did with the resist technique! It’s so soft and beautiful! Perfect with the lyric!!! Your Leonard Cohen Journal is really inspiring me – it turned out awesome and what a great way to pay tribute to an awesome songwriter! Love it!!! je boek is prachtig geworden marit!!! en erg mooi ook je stm pagina, rustig en mooie zachte kleuren!!!
ik ga zo gelijk even een kijkje nemen in de public gallery…in de toekomst wil ik ook weer eens een cursus bij je gaan volgen, maar daar komt de eerste tijd niks van ben ik bang
jammer dat het de hele dag bij jullie regende…hier in harderwijk geen druppel gevallen!

oh my goodness Marit. i absolutely love the journal and i can’t get over the page you did for scrapping the music. i love the raindrops and the color of the rain puddles. rain is very therapeutic for me. the page really speaks to me!!!

Nou zeg…. die regenpagina…. weet je, eerst was ik ook van plan een bladzijde te maken met van die waterkringen…. Ik koos toen voor de gezichtjes. Jou regenwerk vind ik SUPER!!!
En je Leonard Cohen boek eindelijk ingebonden! YES!!! Ik heb dit werk ooit in’t echt gezien en dan is’t nog veel mooier dan op de foto!!

Crayon resist! My favorite technique! I haven’t done that in forever. Has the mind thinking…

Je Leonard Cohen boek is erg mooi geworden! Ook de slow pagina is prachtig! Ziet er heel mooi en rustgevend uit!!! Was het in werkelijkheid ook maar zo,het blijft maar regenen. Alles nat ,vies en blub!! blèh ik ben het een beetje beu. Als ik s’ochtends niet hoef te werken (ik val nog steeds in) wil ik graag je workshop volgen. Je hoort hier nog van. Groetjes!

Bah, hier heeft het ook al dagenlang niets anders gedaan dan geregend. Hoewel ik af en toe een regenbui wel gezellig kan vinden, mag het nu toch al wel eens gaan ophouden. België staat onder water!!
Je Cohen boek is super geworden. Hihi, ik bespeur daar toch wel enig bijgeloof hé! Better safe than sorry, right???
Je art journal page is weer zo mooi … ik sta een 20-tal weken achter (of meer, ik durf niet meer tellen) 🙁 maar toch blijf ik vastbesloten om nog bij te geraken… eeuwige optimist :-)Enne … de 21ste nadert hé 🙂

Wow, je Leonard Cohen boek is zo gaaf geworden! Heel mooi om het gebonden te zien!
En je Art Journal page is super! Mooi die regen en de resist techniek! Heel erg bedankt voor het meedoen met STM!
En wow, je workshops lopen als een trein! Mooi hoor! En net als Peggy loop ik ook maaaaanden achter met A Year…ik hoop dat ik het ook nog kan inhalen, maar ik heb nog zoveel af te maken… ;(

Je art journal is erg gaaf geworden, Marit! Leuk om te lezen dat je stijl is veranderd, dat zie ik bij mezelf nou ook!
Ben blij dat je de laatste pagina niet hebt gemaakt, ben ook wel een beetje bijgelovig 😉
Het weer wordt weer beter deze week, gelukkig maar na al die regen!

Love the outcome of the Leonard book and I adore the art journal page! It has a very serene feel to it with the soft colors and puddles of rain.
