Reasons to smile #3
(Reflections on 2010)

YAY, it’s Friday, and that alone is a reason to smile!

But I have more reasons to smile, oh yes…

..

..

The last week, I had a bit more ‘free time’ and I decided to work on
the “Artful Amblings” art journal (A Year in the Life of an Art Journal)

I’m a few prompts behind, but I hope to catch up in the next few weeks.
I haven’t decided yet if I will play along with AYITLOAAJ next year
(the writing job and my workshops take a lot of time,Β  and I don’t want
my free time to spend on catching up on obligations.
And yes, when I start something, I feel obligated to finish it. That’s me…)

Anyway, for this prompt, the word was “Light”

If there ever was a word that could have so many definitions…
Hope, Spirituality, Love, Dawn, Depression, Happiness, Discovery,
Fire, Energy, Radiance…

That’s what was stated on the blog, but I choose a different angle to look at it
and I made a funny and humorous page to go with the absurd – yet deep –
quote/question that I found on the Internet…

“If you are in a spaceship that is traveling at the speed of light
and you turn on the headlights, does anything happen?”
– Steven Wright –

Ha! Reason to smile!
Great quote, great page… love it, love it, love it!!!

..

While working on the journal page, the case where I store all my pens
was right in front of me on the table. I got it from my mom in March,
when we were at the fair trade store, and I am very attached to this bag.
The bright pink and greens are so vibrant, and just knowing what it holds
– my favourite pens and markers – makes me smile!

It actually is a sponge bag (is that the right word? A case to hold make up?)
It has a little mirror on the inside. (I can use that to see myself smile πŸ˜€ )

There are two pens that increase my smile. White pens!
I know that a lot of you are looking for the (white) pens that work best
on art journal pages: well, here are my favourites!

Michelle send me this Poster Paint Sharpie last month. I wanted to have this
water based marker for a long time, but they don’t sell it in Holland.
This is a ‘medium point’ marker. To see what lines/seize it is: on my page,
I drew the curved lines with it. (*For the Americans: I learned from Michelle
that they now sell these pens in various colours and nib sizes at Michael’s.)

And here’s the white pen I use for the thin lines (see the journaling on the
above art journal page) This is a Pentel gel pen with a 1.0 mm ball
(it says “medium”, but the lines are a lot thinner then the sharpie lines)
The ink lays on top of most surfaces, it doesn’t get soaked in by the paper,
which makes the white look even whiter! It isn’t a permanent marker though,
so it doesn’t work on all surfaces. Still, I use it a lot!

I do have other white pens that I use sometimes:
Brilliant painter and Edding 780 paint marker – different sizes.
Like the sharpie, these pens need to be shaken real well and pump to get
the ink going… the bigger points work quite well with both of these, but
the small (1.0 mm) nibs get clogged easily – especially when you use them
on painted surfaces. (I’m curious to know if the smaller Sharpies do the
same, has anyone experience with that?!)

Although I did curse my pens sometimes last year, when they went dry
or bleed, most of the time my pens are good for a smile!!!

..

And more smilies…. last week, I received the first Christmas cards!
Danielle not only send me a gorgeous, handmade card – she also
send me a big bottle of bubble bath!!! OH MY… I could do with some
relaxing bubbles after weeks of writing articles like a mad woman.
Thank you so much dear!!

Last but not least… I got a handmade card from someone who
manageΒ  to put smiles on everyone’s face… you all know her ofcourse,
especially when you see this :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
*Teehee* – thanks Julie!

..

I wish you all a happy weekend.
Keep on smilin’

Je t’embrasse!
