Keep on smilin’

Yeh, right…
do I finally have some free time, and then I catch a cold…

I choose to ignore it
and I still play with my
pens and art journals,
but that’s kinda hard to do
when there’s something
dripping from your nose
on to your art journal page…
ugh!

It’s the right time of the year
to catch a cold though…
I feel sooo related to Rudolph
and I sing along with the song…

‘Budolb the bed bose bendeew”

..

..

..

Although I haven’t been as productive as I wished,
I still used my free time pretty well:

  • I wrote all the New Years cards!
  • I went to the hairdresser.
  • I made an art journal page for Seth’s book (I am not satisfied
with the result but I learned a lot during the process, I think
I know what I want it to look like now, so I will start over).
  • I finished mom’s present (I show it to you next week).
  • I doodled some in my weekly art journal.
  • I watched ‘Inception’ with my son last night (WOW! Great movie!).

And…
I bound a book following the instructions of the online workshop
Just 3 journals.

I used one of the bindings to make a small journal that I will use
during the top 2000 blog party. As I was cutting the papers and
the cover, the shape reminded me of a small record, (for the
Dutchies: “singeltje”) so I wanted to give the cover a kind of funky
‘old record’ look. The image that Michelle send me a while ago
came to mind and to my surprise, it perfectly fitted on the cover!

So here’s my top 2000 art journal for this year!
I plan to fill it with groovy musical pages next week!!!

..

This is what it looks like from the back.

..

And here’s a detail of the binding structure.

..

With this binding, the book lays flat open which will make it easy to work in!
The first page will be my title page, then I have 7 double pages – spreads
(the top 2000 will play for 7 days – more about that later) and on the last page
I plan to glue an envelope to put the top 2000 list in.

The size of my pages is 7.9 x 8.3″ (20×21 cm) so 7.9 x 16.6″  for a spread.
I might want to work on single pages instead of spreads, and maybe make
more pages (songs) every day… it’s all open yet and I’ll go with the flow.

Here’s a pic of the title page – still blank ofcourse but so you get the idea of
how it looks like when the journal lays open. (click on the image to enlarge)

..

I found out this week that the top 2000 will start on Christmas Day!
I was wrong, thinking it started the day after – it starts at noon on
December 25th.
The complete list will be published next week, and I will write
a blogpost with a link to the list and all the ‘rules’ (although there
aren’t much rules, we’re just going to have a lot of fun!).

So see you next week, have a great weekend!
And, running noses or not – keep smiling!!!

Je t’embrasse!

Goed idee trouwens om de lijst te bewaren in een envelop!

Hope you feel better very quickly – I know how miserable and tired you feel with a cold – I am crossing my fingers that I don’t catch one anytime soon – I had 3 from Jan-July – not good. Have a good weekend and get lots of rest and liquids – and some chicken soup!

I feel so out of touch with you. I am not sure what the problem is other than the big computer is down so all of my bookmarks are not on this computer so I am not reminded of you frequently. I also haven’t been in a blogging mood.

Hope you are feeling better by now. Thanks for sharing the link on how to bind the books.
