Three evil sisters
in my secret life…

Yep, that’s a weird title… I know!
But there’s nothing strange about it, when you know
the reason behind it…
Those are the two titles of my latest layouts!
I just thought it would be fun to combine.

OK, let’s start with evil sisters.
Do you have one? Or two? Or maybe even three?
I don’t have sisters at all!
I have one brother, he lives in Canada and is a sweetie…!
So what’s with the evil sissies then?

I agreed with Danielle to each make (and trade) an ATC with
a Halloween theme, and since we don’t celebrate Halloween
over in the Netherlands, I thought of bending the theme a bit –
so I went with “witches”.
I came across a free stock photo with three ladies on it (sisters, maybe?)
and I decided to make a series of three – transforming the ladies into witches.
And so I gave birth to these “three evil sisters”

I’m still not sure if I shouldn’t have left their faces blank…
I used a sharpie to make them look more “witchie” and now that it’s done
there’s no way to undo that anymore.

Here are the three ladies by their selves
(click on the images to enlarge – and Danielle, which witch do you want?)

There’s some
machine stitching
on every card.

The hats are made
from encyclopedia
pages (the text is
Dutch but it all has
something to do
with “heks” = witch
– I love to take care
off even the slightest
little details –
it just all has to fit
and has to have a
certain meaning!)

The “signs” are
from a stamp.
I have no idea
if it actually means
something but
it looked like
ancient runes
to me…

Witches make me think of
brooms, cats and concoctions:
all kinds of potion – brew in
a big kettle – so I added
some thyme on the cards.

I have no idea why I picked
thyme. It seemed to fit somehow
but after I finished the cards
I got curious and surfed around
on the net looking for witches
and thyme.

I found this: “Thyme is believed to be Lucky in two different ways,
for Protection and Cleansing and to Bring About an Increase in Money.
We are told that when using Thyme as a Protective Curio to Stop
Nightmares, folks burn it on charcoal and breathe the smoke, but the
best-known use of THYME is in Money-Drawing spells.
Some people plant Thyme in their gardens, saying that as it grows,
their money will increase.
Others take a dollar bill, fold it around Thyme Leaves, fold it again
to make a packet, tie it up with green thread, and bury the packet
in the middle of a Crossroads on the night of the Full Moon.”

I can do with some extra money, so can anyone lend me a dollar bill
(or does this work with Euro bills too?) and tell me when it’s full moon?
If it works, then I might develop a wicked laugh “gnaaahhh gnaaaah”!

On to something different (but yet mysterious too) ’cause I made
another page for my Leonard Cohen art journal.
Remember when I wrote this?
“… but there’s something strange, something weird, something
very scary in finishing this journal ’cause somehow I have the
feeling that when I finish this journal, Leonard will die…”

Well, right after finishing my page (it’s not the last one though!)
my beloved read me this from the news:
“The singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen is recovering after collapsing
onstage in Spain. Mr. Cohen fainted during a performance in
Valencia on Friday night (September 18th) The concert was stopped,
and Mr. Cohen, who turns 75 on Monday, was taken to a hospital.
He was released early on Saturday after suffering from a stomach
complaint, tour promoters said. He is expected to perform the last
show of his Spanish tour in Barcelona on Monday.”

Scary, isn’t it? Maybe I am a witch after all….

Here’s the page I made.

Detail:
gesso, machine
stitching, paint,
gel medium
pieces of
dictionary paper
(again – the text
all fit words from
the song)

I hand wrote the
complete lyrics
on this page.

I end this post by saying that I’m desperately waiting for my “Harlee Quinnz
parcel” to arrive… most Design Team members got it already (I’m overseas –
so it takes more time…) and if you hop on over to some of their blogs
(find the addresses on my right side bar) you can see what they did with the
amazing stuff! Chris, Debbie, Tami, Mandy… they all have examples on their
blogs! The Harlee Quinnz website (with a shop, galleries and a blog) is still
in the make (and some things not online yet) but it’s on it’s way to become
a great place! Some more patience please…

Thanks for stopping by again, and thank you all so much for your comments!
I highly appreciate you all for doing that!
See you Friday with the other half of my “Message in a bottle – spread”

Je t’embrasse!

EDIT: Look what the mailman brought me a little after I published this post…
