Freewheelin’ Friday (#2)
Gooooooooddddd moooooornniiiiiinnnnnnnnngggg!
(Ha! Just wanted to do that once!)
Friday… weekend’s just around the corner and the holiday season’s begun.
Well, here in my street it is. Our neighbours across the street sprayed
(fake) snow on their windows – all kinds of Christmas bells and stars.
They draped little lights all around the window, and outside in their small
garden they put lights in the even smaller bushes.
Compared to you, Americans, this is nothing but for Dutch standards,
it’s quite exuberant.
As you maybe know, I don’t decorate much with Christmas.
Maybe a few extra candles (I happen to have them in the house all year!
I love candles!) So hooray for the neighbours!
If I start to long for Christmas lights, I just look out my windows.
And if I’m sick of it, I close the shutters. Easy peasy!
Where was I going by telling you this… ? Oh, yes, the holidays.
I started talking about it ’cause the challenge at “These Are A Few
Of My Favorite Things” was to scrap about your favourite holiday.
I (DON’T) have one…
There are a few
days in the year,
related to holidays,
on which I feel
like the girl

(uuhm, yes, it’s
MY face in there –
sort of anyway)
and those days
are about to start!
(read further, ’cause there’s an announcement at the end of this post!)
Before I show you the layout, I will publish the journaling.
It will be more clear what this layout is all about…
Journaling:
I don’t care much for holidays. Easter, my birthday, Sinterklaas…
I don’t pay much attention to it and I don’t “celebrate”.
Even Christmas goes by like any other day – but I always look forward
to the moment right after Christmas: the Top 2000 on the radio!
Our radio stays tuned to “radio 2” and plays from (early) in the morning
’till (late) at night! We always take the (long) list out of the paper.
Every song title and time of broadcasting is on it, and that list lays
on the dining table all week. We play our own games with it.
“Don’t look – what is the next song and who’s playing it…”
I win most of the times. It’s crazy, the amount of songs I have lingering
in my mind. Not just the title… no, I can sing them all! But that’s because
most songs on the list are from my youth – music of the sixties and
seventies. One week a year it’s all about sentiment, ending with the
apotheosis: top 2000 music clips on television on New Years eve…
…and a glass of bubbles at midnight!
Used materials: Background: the "top 2000 list" from the paper of a few years back (yes, I saved it!) Acrylic paint, oil crayons, white gel pen, sheet music (thank you Ronda!)and black gel pen (handwritten journaling) The image is a collage: body from a model (cut out of a fashion magazine) photo of my own face, headphones from another magazine and I draw the eyes and painted the hair with acrylic paint and puffy paint.
So here’s my favourite “holiday-week” and this year Christmas Day will be
added too! Because of the amount of long songs in the list (and they want
to play them all!) the broadcast station decided to start on Christmas Day
(12 pm) instead of the day after…
Yeaaaahhhh, finally Christmas is gonna be a celebration for me too!!!

ANNOUNCEMENT:
In the “Top 2000 week” (December 25 – 31) I will make/publish one
layout every day, refering to a song from the Top 2000 that will be
broad casted on the radio that day! It can be a 12×12, an art journal page,
an ATC or whatever I feel like making.
Everybody is invited to play along with me!
The list with songs, times and dates will be published in the papers and
on the Internet on December 22nd. (I will put up the link on my blog)
Just e-mail me a photo of your work (in your mail, please name song title and
date/number in the top 2000 list) and I will publish it on my blog on the day
that song is playing, with your name and a link to your blog (if you like)
This is not only for Dutchies! If you want to play along, you’re very welcome!
The songs can be heard from December 25th ’til 31st, in the Netherlands on
radio 2 and (for internationals) on the Internet.
I’m looking forward to this “event” and hope you will play along!
I’m gonna light me some candles now, have me another cup of coffee
and go “freewheeling” today… after all, it’s Friday!
I might play with my art journal for a change… it feels like a day to do that!

HOLY CRAP WOMAN!!!! I knew we were kindred spirits….(well except for that lack of christmas cheer thing!! LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!)……I sooooooooooooooooooooooo love love love love love love love love love love MUSIC….hear a song from 20 years ago and WILL SING my heart out and remember all the lyrics and everything!!! LOL!!!! I mean I just had to listen to Imagine (and well….all his other works) because the anniversary of John’s death was just the other day…… i soooooooooooooooooooooo love love love love love love love this LO!!! WOW WOW WOW WOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely STUNNING!!!!! U are a true artist and this is SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!! Marit, this is positively amazing and just brilliant – so completely out of the box – I could say I was speechless but obviously I’m not – I am really really knocked out by this! and I really like the way you posted the journaling before showing the layout so I was all ready for it. Just love your idea to scrap the songs and I plan to be along for the ride. I finished my watercolor class, all of my presents, and even have a painting all ready for an exhibition in January so I will have lots of time to play. Thanks so much for playing along with TAAFOMFT and I look forward to the top 2000.

Marit, that is an awesome layout. We do something similar in the US with the countdown, but certainly not 2000 songs. Usually it is only 100 songs, but it changes every year (I have figured out using Wikipedia.) It has been a long time since I have listened to any of those lists though. Enjoy your 2000 fun.

Nou, wat kan ik nog zeggen na al deze complimenten!! Gewoon dit: ik ben het helemaal met iedereen eens: dit is weer een pronkstuk in de verzameling van Marit!!!! WOW, wat gaaf!!!!
Ben jaloers op je talent!!
Goed, je weet dat ik ook geen Kerstliefhebber ben. Er komt ook hier geen versiering in huis, zelfs geen kaarsen!! Toch heb ik wel kerstlayouts gemaakt (voor het eerst!) en zelfs een kersttutorial.. Iedereen die me kent, vraagt zich af wat er met me aan de hand is, hihi…
En de Top 2000, die vind ik ook super, alleen vind ik het wel jammer dat er altijd dezelfde platen in de top 10 staan. Misschien dit jaar wat meer Ramses??

Hey meis, wat een leuk idee om een ieder te vragen mee te doen met het maken van Top 2000 layouts!! Ik moet in die periode maar één dag werken dus ik ga zeker proberen er een paar te maken!! LEUK!!

Ben nog aan ‘t dubben over de kerstboom. Wel of niet. Onze kleine nepperd ligt nog netjes
opgeborgen. Maar de versieringen van dertig jaar…van mezelf als kind, van mijn moeder zelfgemaakte versieringen, van oudste broer die op verre reizen steevast voor de kinderen iets voor de boom meebracht, van mij jongste broer een kribje dat ik kreeg toen Viv geboren werd. Als ik aan die spulletjes denk word ik een beetje sentimenteel beetje sentimenteel. Volgende week dan maar?
Je lo is super Marit! Ik kijk uit naar je workshop! Hoorde van Viv dat er deze maand nieuws over komt. Inschrijving?
Van de week lagen er prachtige zwarte markers (met verschillende soorten punten) in de bus. Gesponsord (via GS) van Prismacolors. Die zullen wel van pas komen begin komend jaar!

Ja Marit, ik sluit me bij alle complimenten aan…fantastisch!
En de top 2000…super!Ik hou er zeker van en luister ook ieder jaar,en net als jij weet ik ook de titel en de band en kan ik ook bijna alle liedjes mee bléren.. 😉

wow wat een gave lo!!! leuk hoe je de lijst van de top 2000 hebt gebruikt en helemaal super de foto met een dansende marit 🙂 de top 2000…daar kijk ik ook weer naar uit…een week lang, 24 uur per dag alleen maar mooie muziek op de radio. wat een leuk idee om te scrappen over nummers uit de lijst, als ik tijd heb doe ik zeker en keer met je mee!

Wow Marit, geweldige layout en wat een leuke uitdaging om een lay-out te maken van een nummer uit de TOP 2000, ik zal kijken of ik tijd heb om er ook een of meerdere te maken. Leuke uitdaging!

OMG!! I just fell off my chair!! AMAZING WORK!!!!! You are so talented! And I always have the songs in my head too! I almost want Christmas to be over so I can play! I’m sorry I’ve been so busy lately! And I have horrible time management skillz! LOL Workin on that but not used to actually having to work for a living!
