Do I have hope?
Remember this picture from my former post?
This is a detail from my art journal page that I finished last weekend…
I made this page for prompt two of A Year in the Life of an Art Journal.
This prompt came from Guest Host Glenda and she gave us the word
“Hope” to work with. *sigh* I don’t have much with that word (or it’s
meaning) and I put this prompt aside for a while.
As the week moved on, I thought about it from time to time, turning the
word over and over in my head and asking myself “do I have hope?”
And than I came across song lyrics from a band I love: The Dixie Chicks.
And that was it. Yes, I do have hope in my life!
I even made it my word for this year: “Smile!”
The blockade dissolved and I created this page.
I used acrylic paint and black, white and colour markers for the mosaic border. The sitting lady is made by using a photo as "basic" and add patterned paper over her dress and jacket. I painted the head myself with watercolour paint.
It’s the first time I try something like this, using a painted head I mean, and
it’s not perfect but I like it. It needs some more practice I guess, but adding
drawn faces to photos is definitely something I’d like to use more.
I’m much into collage these days!
It’s a cold and grey day in the Netherlands, but compared to all you American
friends having snow blizzards and all, I won’t complain. My door still opens and
electricity works… I hope you all stay save and warm out there and I wish you
a wonderful week! See you on Friday!

xxx Peggy

Today we are expecting (a form of hope I suppose) a wintery mix. The only reason we would want such weather is to stay out of school, but I want clear weather as my mother will be driving me to an appointment tomorrow and she hates bad weather.
I love the mosaic. Today I just noticed all of the little hopes on the floor. quite unexpected.
