Freewheelin’ Friday (#13)

Alice in Wonderland keeps popping up on several blogs due to the movie,
and you all know that I’m in love with Alice since I participated in the
“Alice Journal Swap” (Haven’t seen the movie yet – it’s released this week
in the Netherlands – but I’m going to see it with my son soon!)

Anyway, I had Alice in mind when I started playing in my art journal…

…but something else came to the fore when I worked on it!

I guess the yellow brick road nested in my brain last week, and pushed
Alice aside – My page turned into a yellow brick road!!!

Used materials: acrylic paint, images and alphas cut out of magazines.
Dictionary paper for the dress, golden marker.

The quote isn’t
from the “Wizard
of Oz” but from the
song “Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road”
by Elton John.
Nevertheless,
I will link it up
for the Scrapmojo
challenge.
I think Marie is
kind enough to
forgive me this
“free inter-
pretation”.

And because there was nothing worth while watching on television in the
evenings: more zentangle pages!

I love playing with my black marker (I had to buy me another one last week,
they don’t last long when I start doodling!)

For this page, I printed a photo from “henna hands” as an example.
It was a fun page to make and I keep on asking myself: how would this look
on my own hands?

Yesterday, I had a
spare moment and
didn’t want to get all
my stuff downstairs
to start a big project
so I made an ATC
for ATC the Music
using the hitchhiker
stamp from Las
Vegas Stamps and
one of my fave
songs “The long
way around” by
the Dixie Chicks.

I coloured the stamped image with pencils.
I would prefer using markers for this, but I don’t have a “skin colour
marker”and I didn’t want her to be orange again! I will have to buy
a copic marker in skin colour soon! (I would love buying MORE copic
markers but the budget doesn’t allow me to buy the full range…!)

The workshop “Let it Loose” is coming to an end. Yesterday was the
last lesson – about binding the pages into a book – and Michelle
was the first to finish her art journal.
She published photos on her blog today with a recap of all the pages
she made with the lessons. It’s fun to see all her layouts together,
so go take a look on her blog!
(BTW: Let is Loose will start again on May 3, info on the website)

In between all the creative outbursts, I cleaned the windows and
the kitchen cupboard… YAY! That means a free Saturday to spend
with my glue and papers… On Sunday my aunt & uncle from Zeeland
come visit us so I’m looking forward to a nice weekend!
I hope yours will be beautiful too!

Je t’embrasse!

You crack me up. That girl on the yellow brick road is fabulous. I love the two different shoes and the texture of her dress. This is one of my all time favorite pages. Now I will go favorite it on SIS so I can look at it for inspiration whenever I want. I see you have my favorite sunflowers on this page, too. Also, as I have mentioned elsewhere, I can’t believe you zentangled henna hands. I had that in mind as well. I think if we ever really met we might have quite a bit in common. (Just a thought.)
